Bostic looking speedy on that pick six.

Couldn't watch, was Blanchard as decent as that line?

Also Wilson.

After Webb gave up a sack in his 10-play outing on Friday, the Bears started yesterdays practice with 5th round rookie Jordan Mills as starting RT.
Long also has been moved past Brown to the starting RG (and boy was he handling people on Friday).

It looks like the moves are for the rest of the week, giving them an opportunity to win the job. So we might have an all-Rookie right side of the OL...

If that's the best right side we can field, I'm all for it.

J'Marcus sucks.

Still have yet to see the whole game but the rookie LBs look promising. That's some pretty solid linebacker depth going forward.

I'm casualfan.jpg until the season starts and even then it takes me six games before I can have original/informed opinions about the rooster or whatever. So it sucks when nobody chimes into this thread for five days to disabuse me and other gullibles of our casualfan ideas like "bostic = butkus" or "shea about to break out" or "Mills+Long = free at last, free at last, tgawafal." In short I'm starting to get kind of optimistic and it's making me uncomfortable so somebody post please.

i'm still here

just rewatched that bostic stick for the umpteenth time.

i like what i see from him so far for sure.

all the preseason **** is just kind of pointless- we'll see how the bears stand about 4 weeks in before you have a real feel for what's up imo.

It's way too early to even guess what this season will be. We need the full first half of the next game. We need a game or two of the real season.

Cutler and the O could crash and burn. The O-Line could still be as bad as it has been.
Years might tell on Peppers, Briggs, Tillman. Young D starters might regress, and we can't bank on the turnovers/TD's we got last year.

But I am positively optimistic about the regime for the first time in years. And that is down to two men: Emery and Trestman.

Emery's picks of McLellin, Long, Bostic and Mills (not to mention Greene and Wilson) look ready to bear very early fruit.
Trestman's thoughtfulness, thoroughness, imagination and professionalism are a breath of fresh air. He has reasons for everything, and is willing to take chances.

OL has been a wreck for years. But in the last two month we have ditched Carimi (he's now 3rd string in TB), demoted Webb and reduced his salary to the vet minimum. And elevated rookies Long (who is beasting) and Mills (who in limited time has looked very soid).

With Emery and Trestman we got the one thing we needed: Change.
And it's looking like it could be the kind I've waited 20 years for...

Let's get to that spot.

Trestman has a history of using smart veterans to their career best. There is no reason for the Redskins to part ways with a young cheap back-up to an injury prone starter.

I'm getting too excited about the prospects! They looked great but it is pre-season and it is against Joakland. I can't help having irrational exuberance though.

Cutler was 12/21 but of those incompletions 7 or 8 were totally catchable and 5 were pure drops.

Dear Bear receivers, please get that sloppiness out of your system now because Jay Cutler is an artist, he is a perfectionist, he leads both by example and body language and he will not tolerate your graceless granite-handed eely-fingered ways. It is unprofessional, it is unprincipled, and by god, it is rude. You are all pro athletes and it's time to start catching like one. "Who, me?" Yes you. No, not you Alshon Jeffery, keep it up son.

Why Your Team Sucks: Chicago Bears

The article is ok, but the emails from fans he quotes are gold.

Quote:
We have one discernible pass play: Jay Cutler evading three defensive lineman, deftly stepping over his own fallen piece of **** guards, and then having to unleash a 100-mph bullet into a tight window to a quadruple-covered Brandon Marshall, all as he gets speared by two blitzing linebackers. He will go 15 of 26 for 210 yards doing this, and then all week I have to hear that he is an overrated pussy. **** you all.
Quote:
No doubt Cutler will have his occasional flashes of amazing snugly fit into a massive pile of **** season. Jay Cutler is your buddy that you invite to a best-ball golf outing because he hits 325 off the tee. Except he shows up late and hungover and does nothing but shank into the woods until he finally pulls it together on the 12th hole and is all "see guys, just needed a little hair of the dog." **** Jay Cutler.

Here's a fun drinking game: try to name all the quarterbacks that started for the Bears during the time Brett Favre was the starting quarterback of the Packers. Take a shot for each one you miss. No one ever names them all (there's at least 21). Most give up halfway, finish a bottle of Malört as punishment, drunkenly google the full list, then reminisce.

When was he ever signed as a starter? Kalil and Loadholt are the starters. Webb is backup swing tackle.

Yes because the only players to touch the field the entire game are starters
