Going into the 2009 season we are looking to assess what could be the biggest trade in Chicago Bears history. I for one am really excited at the potential this team now holds and I am unable to wait any longer to get the season thread going.

Obligatory pics:

i watched like every broncos game for awhile now and thought that cutler would be my all time fav player (thanks josh)...might have to become a bears fan now

cutler is ****ing awesome although can be overconfident sometimes (not a bad thing) just leads him to try and force throws bc he knows how awesome his arm is

he's especially good on the run rolling both ways (see 1st play on this link)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJRha...eature=related

edit: i'm sure most of you remember the chicago game we blew vs you guys he played pretty ****ing awesome in that game

edit 2: wow that whole video should get bears fans pumped (i know that vid is just a highlight reel so just his best plays) but still that being 2 years ago is the coolest thing to me

They've been touting Bowman's improvent this Offseason like crazy. But for me it's still OTAs. He needs to continue the same in Training Camp. At least. We always hear off OTA/TC wonders who never see the field once the season starts.
With Tillman out he'll get the chance to start in TC though. But he's gonna have to hold off Graham, who I like quite a lot. The guy just gets to the ball.

What we really need is a WR to step up / Cutler to make another Royal/Marsall out of a rookie non-first rounder.

If we can have one or two of these step up it really takes the pressure off Hester/Bennett, and means we don't need one of the rooks to make a first year impact.

Bowman already mentioned. After I made my reply he had the best camp of any player on D, but has now gone down with a short-term injury. We really need this guy to take over from Vasher, who looks like he's close to washed up. What a fall after his new contract...

Super positive about us atm, Cutler is just lighting it up. 20 years of mediocre/bad/terrible QB's, and it sure feels strange...

I'm starting to get to the point where I feel better about the offense and I am worried about the defense.

With Harris not back in form (if he ever will be), all three defensive ends need to improve on last year and Brown and Wale are starting to get to the point where you worry about if it has more to do with decline than a "down year." Maybe Dusty will be healthy, who knows.

The strong side linebacker looks like it should go to a good player that is playing well, Briggs will still be great, Urlacher is aging, but is still better than most.

The secondary scares the ever living hell out of me. With Tillman hurt, Vasher looking like a scared girl, Bowman had good OTAs and early camp before getting hurt, Graham & McBride have not stood out. The only upside is the only team in the divison that can pass is Green Bay.

Maybe I'm drinking the Cutler kool-aid, but it tastes good. Olsen, Hester & Bennett look like they have really taken a step forward. Forte is a stud. Depth along the o-line leaves the only real question can Orlando Pace hold up?

For a Bears team this feels really weird. I'm suposed to be thrilled with the D and worried about if the O can score enough points. Now I'm worried that the offense will have to score 28+ every game.

[x] in before all these Bears fan start chanting "CUTLER SUCKS"..."OMG, I CANT BELIEVE WE GAVE UP OUR FUTURE PICKS FOR THIS GUY"..."ORTON WOULDNT HAVE DONE THAT"

In other news, I would love to see Cutler revive this Bears offense and take them deep into the playoffs...but I do think it will be a bumpier ride than most expect.

I will take the good with the bad regarding Cutler....... there should be a lot more good than bad. Orton couldn't make some of the throws you need in your arsenal to be considered a "top" NFL QB, Cutler does.

Can I introduce you to some of the Quarterbacks we've suffered through the last 5 years? Can I?

And I'm not talking "Rex Orton".

I AM talking...
Henry Burris, Chad Hutchinson, Jonathan Quinn, Craig Krenzel, Kordelia.

I mean seriously.

Huge Upside + Substantial Downside >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Huge Downside + No Upside Whatsoever

Telling Bears fans their new Pro Bowl Quarterback might not be perfect is like telling a dude who wins gazillions on the lottery "don't get too excited, you're going to have to pay taxes on it".
