Re: Boston Red Sox: Reclaiming the AL East

--Pretty funny moment by the Oakland radio guys: "It looks like Gallagher getting up in the bullpen. It's pretty tough to tell, with everyone wearing #42 today." At other times, he had trouble remembering the names of the Boston catcher and SS, two guys who aren't exactly household names, who had neither their name nor uni number on their back.

--Here's hoping the bats got a little shot of confidence today.

--If we ever let a pitcher go to that WBC again...

And oh yeah, the Oakland radio guys watch Ortiz unable to catch up to a fastball, and noted that he's been having fastballs blown past him for the entire series...

....and they wondered where he'll be in the lineup, the next time these two teams face each other.

The Boston Red Sox are an exceptional professional baseball outfit. Their play is often highly exquisite, and they possess a remarkable amount of determination.

yeah Ortiz has looked baaaad. Hopefully just a slow start. I expected decline, but he's not even putting a charge into most the balls he hits. Even Tek manages a few line drive outs on occasion.

Luckily, Drew is this year's MVP.

Look for me in the outfield Grand Stand 3 tomorrow night vs the Orioles.

I find it eerie that I bought my tickets through stubhub, and today I get an email from redsox.com thanking me for buying tickets to friday nights game. FTR scalping is illegal in MA

Don't call that just yet. He's been late on some fastballs he used to be able to push off the wall, but he's also turned and ripped several foul shots. Could still just be timing...

Another 0-fer by Big Puppy.

I can't wait till the White Sox come to town, and Ozzie intentionally walks Pedroia every time up.

Don't look now but the Sox have a 3 game streak going and are one away from .500. Hopefully Lester can pull it together and get a W tomorrow.

I mean drew has been doing well and all but calling him the mvp over youk is just lol.

And I never realized how many fanbois he had given his exorbitant salary and the fact that he sits out of games because of a blister on his left pinkie. Where Pedroia embodies everything that baseball is, Drew is almost the opposite.

i dont really understand why he's the target for so much criticism...he's been super clutch in the playoffs, doesnt make bonehead plays on the basepaths, good defender, solid clubhouse guy by all accounts. cause he gets paid a lot? cause he's a boras guy? i mean, who cares? its not your money.

It's his low key demeanor. Pedroia strikes out and looks pissed, maybe slams the bat and the helmet, the fans go wow he really cares. Drew just calmly walks back to the dugout and gently slides his bat into the rack and takes a seat and the fans think wow this guy doesn't give a ****.
