A-Rod is clutch? Come back when he actually hits in a meaningful game in the post season....oh right he wont then the fickle yank fans will boo him when he goes 0-4

From today's Herald:

Quote:
Today, the Sox might have to bring up another reliever to absorb some innings in case starter Clay Buchholz cannot go deep.
Was that supposed to be funny?

****ing biased ump. His calling is aweful. Punching out sox hitters on balls, saying they went around when they didn't and insta-tossing ramirez when no warnings had been issued and anyone with half a brain knows that he didn't intentionally throw at a-roid.

slept through this, am not even remotely surprised at the result.

here is how i look at things in times like this.

if we were in any other division in baseball with this EXACT team we would be in 1st easily.

we are still favorites to go to playoffs.

ups and downs occur, this is a bad down. another up will happen, suck it up (convincing myself).

we still have hope w mr matsuzaka. forget the start of the year, look at his body of work. a 4.15 or so FIP is enough!

matt holiday + gross no good FA's. oh wait NYY are losing damon, forget holiday, hes 30 and best free agent on market, no way NY doesnt sign him.

Yankee fan here. Right before A-Rod (btw- now isn't the time to be calling him A-Roid, but whatever) got hit, Victor Martinez gave the sign and then right before the pitcher threw the pitch, he tugged on his left sleeve. Then A-Rod got hit. It may not have been intentional, but when you pitch high and tight to Texy and then hit A-Rod; you will be ejected. The ump took his time and talked to Martinez while dusting home plate between Tex and A-Rod's at bats. He wasn't talking about flight plans ya know. He was telling Martinez to be careful.

was a warning issued to the benchs when martinez threw a fastball high and tight to tex? were the yankees warned when martinez was thrown out?

You cannot throw high and inside to the #3 hitter and then drill the #4 hitter. Period. Giving a warning is not a requirement. Jesus, look at the videotape between Tex's and A-Rod's at bats. It's SOOOO obvious. The umpire goes out to wipe the plate, takes like 20 seconds to do so, is talking to the catcher, Victor gives the signs, settles in, tugs his left sleeve, and A-Rod gets hit.

are you really this dense? the first pitch arod saw in his first at-bat was going for his shoulder. teixera was dodging high and tight balls in most of his at-bats. and btw, MattWilliams is right. watch the replay of ramirez hitting a-rod. the catcher's signal is beyond obvious.

So how about Thursday. Pedroia gets one over his head then one toward his face which ends up hitting him in the shoulder. Why wasnt Melancon ejected? Is it because Pedroia hits in the 2 hole? Sox have been pathetic this series but the Umps have been pretty 1-sided.

I have no problem with either team throwing at the other. Matter of fact I remember having a ton of conversations with a Yankee fan buddy of mine as to why Manny or Ortiz were never drilled. They seemed to kill the Yanks for a few years and were never hit. Yankee pitching just seemed to sit back and take it. If I was in Torre's spot it would been high priority to at least throw a good amount of pitches up and in.

My problem with yesterday was why was Ramirez ejected. No warning was issued and did the ump actually think that the Sox wanted to put guys on both 1st and 2nd in a 2 run game,Lol! Now it retrospect it might have saved the Sox a few more runs as Ramirez probably would have gave up 4 or 5. Instead they only scored 1. Yes the Sox played like **** and deserved to lose all 3 games so far but the Umps have been 1 sided and should have to give up some sort of explanation as to why the ejection.

To Add: Both Buck and Especially McCarver have been huge NY homers during their telecasts for the last 10 yrs and they actually had a problem with it. McCarver may be a bigger homer then John Sterling.

imo, if buck and mccarver have a problem with something, it's usually relatively OK.

Wow. Just wow. You bring Red Sox homerism to a whole new level. I want to believe you're leveling but I really think you're serious.
