I'm rewatching last night's epic, and Gomes is just awful. I know they probably schooled him to pander, but listening to him explain the "contact play" is just brutal.

Obviously it remains to be seen if he can keep this pace once the pitchers start to adjust to him but man Devers has been good soo far. Sox really needed a power bat in the lineup.

The Sale part I agree with, not the Price part. I think using Price like Andrew Miller is brilliant. Takes the post-season start pressure off, and his arm should be live enough to pitch in back-to-back-to back games.

Sale being gassed makes the whole thing moot, though.

It's a tough spot. Sale and Pomeranz are obviously gassed, but letting Price start in one of their places isn't really an option, is it? I think they'll ride or die with them because these two guys magically pitching well is really the only way they could go all the way. The back end starters aren't really the problem although I'd way rather have E-Rod starting than Fister or Porcello.

I think I agree with Price doing the fireman bullpen role. Gives us the best chance of winning the WS imo even though it also makes getting swept more likely.

Price was nails and man when Hanley is locked in I have so much more confidence in the bats.

Saw it elsewhere a plan going forward of Porcello 2mrw with Sale out of the pen on short rest and if you make it to game 5 that gives you Pomeranz on full rest with Price out of the pen.

Still an uphill climb but i definately have some hope.

Yeah its forecast to rain most of the day here so definately a possibility. Im somewhat on the fence about how much a rainout helps. Of course it would be great to have Sale and Pomeranz lineup up to start the next 2 games but at the same time that means Astros got Verlander and Keuchel. A rainout would mean that Price is more likely to be able to be a factor in game 4 if needed which is a huge plus.
