Allow me to homer it up for a second. Im not gonna track down the games or dates but if you followed the season you know that there were 2 or 3 occasions during the season where **** looked bad and farrell was on the ropes

Everytime that situation arose this team had a major rebound. If they win 2mrw i think they win the series.

Has echoes of 03 ALDS, when game 1 was a heartbreaker, game 2 dead from the start. Buchholz is a little past where Derek Lowe was at that time but there are certain parallels.

Should have a good team next year. I dunno the stats, but Hanley has seemed OK at 1B. Do they keep him there and overpay for Edwin, or do they make Hanley the DH? And what the **** becomes of panda next year?

Hanley looked ok at 1B but two weeks ago I looked at his FG page and they had his defensive impact as almost as negative as Papi's who spent like 5 innings in the field all year. Not a huge expert but I think for that to happen you have to be insanely terrible. But single year defensive stats are dubious so idk

Sandoval I've personally written off, any contribution is a bonus. Maybe Moncada can stop striking out 99% of the time or they stick Holt there as a stopgap.

Obviously impossible to replace what Ortiz did with the bat this year

Amazing season. I keep telling myself we finished in the basement two of the past three years. THis was an insanely fun team to watch, and I refuse to let a 10 game slump at the worst possible time ruin that. I will miss papi more than any other Boston athlete I've been able to watch until Brady retires, and even then I think I'll miss papi more. The team has a very bright future, and I'm already chomping at the bit for 2017.

I imagine most of the bitching will continue til the games start and they see the upside in the games. If reports are true that it was Betts and Benintendi they wanted during the season then im really happy that they waited til the offseason to pull the trigger on the trade

They have a good problem to have now with too many starters. Eddie, Buchholz, Pomeranz and Wright to fight for 2 spots. Feel like the most likely scenarios are Buchholz being traded or Pomeranz moved to the bullpen. Feel really good about the pitching staff as a whole going into the season. Anyone know the timetable on Carson Smiths recovery?
