Before the season started the majority of experts had the red sox finishing 3rd in the AL East behind the Rays and Yankees. Some had them 4th behind Blue Jays and only a couple had them 2nd. That most likely wasnt accounting for Beckett and Lester being thrash all year and they mountain of injuries they suffered.

Granted by the end Bobby V was like a sideshow act, but i dont know how much blame for the year i put on him. I think his actions were more the icing on the cake than the actual problem. Unless there are some fundamental changes with this team before next season i dont see them finishing above 4th in the East.

Im all for Bobby V being shown the door, but lets face reality. Even with another manager this year i dont think the end result would have been much different. The team just sucks.

lol...SC was playing a tim kurkjian piece that was obviously prerecorded and kurkjian kept saying "he's getting a 2nd chance bc..." must of said it 3 times, then they just cut out of the piece mid sentence and anchor says thank you Tim. Anchor has to reiterate he isn't getting a second chance. SC played the wrong piece.

they're now playing the correct tim kurkjian piece

I was surprised when I woke up and didn't see a "Bobby V fired" headline.

How funny is that, they fired him a few hours later than I thought they should.

Well, we ran Beckett and Crawford out of town, now Bobby V is gone.

Is there anyone else? Or do we need a new thread title?

What a bunch of ****ing phonies this ownership is. They are so respectful and kind in their comments on Bobby but **** all over Francona out the door.

They are probly scared of what Bobby V will say if it turns into a war or words. God knows there must have been some bad **** happen within the team this year.

Maybe they're trying not to repeat a big mistake?

Wow, are you naive. Last year they wanted to can a popular manager that won two World Series. So for PR reasons they felt the need to trash the poor guy out the door, an action that probably cost him from getting hired by another team.

This year they are firing probably the most hated manager in Red Sox history, so there's no need to make the guy look bad because the fan base doesn't need convincing he had to go.

Like I said, a bunch of ****ing phonies.

Toro I totally agree.

My only hope is that this debacle has taught ownership that they need to stay the **** out of baseball operations. Of course that only helps if Cherington is a good GM, and I don't think we know enough about him yet - but the salary dump was very promising.

Still going to be hard to root for this team, especially considering John ****ing Lackey is going to be in our goddamn rotation.

You know come spring training they wont have brought in any help for the rotation and use a returning Lackey as their big off-season improvement to the starting rotation.

I'm sure they will bring in some help for the rotation. It may be nothing fancy or expensive, but they're not going to stand pat.

Hopefully they don't go spend big money just because they feel they need to do a big move for the fans. That's how we ended up with Lackey in the first place.

Agree with this. The free agency pool is sparse this year so unless they can pry a King Felix from Seattle for prospects(very unlikely) I don't see a big splash this off season.

And a healthy Lackey might not be half bad. I think people hate him more for his persona but they guy actually gutted it out that last year with a blown out arm.

yeah a healthy Lackey is a substantial upgrade from some of the scrubs they were running out this year

Im sure Larry is pretty good at his job, but most of what he gets hate about is making decisions that arent in his job description.

While i personally would like to see him replaced, I think they could improve the situation by John Henry telling Larry to leave the baseball stuff to the baseball guys.

Its been a couple of weeks since ive been severly tilted by the Red Sox.

Only a matter of time til they trade away some decent prospects for John Farrell. That should do the trick

Looks like they hired Farrell. Got an article on it on ESPN.

No word on compensation yet
