i think that's every FA SP that they'd even bother offering a major league contract to

they can prob pay someone mediocre like edwin jackson for 3 years since they're not getting any help from the farm system anytime soon. ranaudo is the only prospect they have with much of a chance of being a valuable major league starter by the end of 2013. he got a huge signing bonus in 2010 and was mediocre in A-ball this year, but is still getting love from baseball america

they say it will be 2015 until ranaudo and barnes are in the major league rotation

- anonymous sources say the sox wanted lackey to get TJ surgery in april (he was DL'ed mid-may bc of his elbow)

- bud selig is acting like hes on the sox payroll when he publicly talks about the negotiations hes about to arbitrate

- red sox offseasons are probably the most fun thing in sports IMO
