When I read that Giardi article and the part on Crawford, the only thing I could think of was that this was written by someone trying really hard to convince the fans that 6 more years of Crawford isn't that bad.

i think lucchino being a slimy, machiavellian genius is less about him smearing people in the papers and more about him setting up a spot where theo has agreed to terms with the cubs, the red sox have already replaced him and oh by the way the red sox and cubs haven't agreed on a compensation package. ruh roh, theo can't take the job until the red sox agree to the compensation

so sick that lucchino is going to get a free brett jackson here.

billy beane was the hottest GM commodity ever and the a's were going to get kevin youkilis as compensation. at the time youkilis was probably like the 14th best prospect in a crappy red sox farm system. he didnt beastmode the minor leagues until the next year

i was listening to weei this morning with lou merloni and he said it best about crawford. whatever manager comes in you tell crawford your batting 2nd all year. The redsox payed you 142 million to bat 2nd not 6th. I would have ellsbury, crawford, pedey, gonzo. I agree with what lou said
