That Damon homer would have been an infield popup in any other park.

Edit: Tex homers on the next pitch. Obviously, Giradi is a genius by getting thrown out of the game.

i'm at the office ******edly late, and blacked out on mlb.tv. my only other option is listening via XM, though they use the home announcing team. i have no idea how yankee fans listen to sterling/waldman, i'm ready to use espn gamecast. this is brutally painfull.

Heh, as a new XM subscriber (I had been with Sirius for years), I just lost my Sterling/WhatsHerName cherry on the way home.

It hurt.

I find them oddly comforting. Since I know everything they will say before they say it, this frees me up to do other things while I listen to the game.

Any win against the Yankees is a good win.

Another spectacular Simmons podcast up now, where he interviews Dave Roberts. Especially the first half, which is almost exclusively 2004 ALCS.

(God, I love every picture of Dave Roberts in a Sox uniform. He has a million-dollar smile.)

I think it's OK to show up any fielder who botches every single ball that's hit to him. In that case, the person or persons that you are actually showing up are the manager and the GM, who keep letting the incompetent stiff play, despite his inability to cleanly field any sort of a ground ball.

I hope the Remdawg returns soon. Eck seems to be ok but nothing great. Im forever grateful for that Dave Roberts SB, but after watching him do an interview with Ellsbury the other day I am not looking foward to hear him be the color guy.

The Red Sox have impeccable timing. What a great time to have Jason Bay, who was slumping with the Pirates, and what a great time NOT to have Manny.

Yeah. have your players juice well. Have their careers hit skids, then ship them off. Rinse and repeat. Simmons makes the point herehttp://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...7&sportCat=mlb.

the awkward three generation writing style or the fact that he believes that the red sox championships are tainted with PED usage.

Didn't we get Beckett and Lowell for Hanley? I don't regret that one for a moment.

Our starters' ERAs/WHIPs are a bit disturbing, especially Lester and Becket. Those two have gotten hit hard lately. Fortunately, they held up against the Yankees.

Wakefield: 2.93/1.13
Masterson: 5.28/1.41
Lester: 6.31/1.57 (after today's game)
Beckett: 6.75/1.82
Penny: 6.90/1.77
Matsuzaka: 12.79/3.00
