I think he means total homers, both batting and pitching combined, which we are just behind Arizona I believe. Toronto hasn't given up many homers. They just walk people or strike them out.
If your pitching coach finally got through Dice-K, he's going to be a better version of Mussina with an even bigger repertoire of pitches and a better fastball.
Man, that was one hell of a performance he put up. The batters just couldn't even see his pitches. His fastballs tailed (or is that his shuuto?). He also threw some killer cutter that was like 88mph... and a slider just dived down and in to lefties in the low 80s. Then that almost true 12-6 curveball for strikes.
It was crazy. This could really be the best Dice-K I've ever seen.
The craziest thing is for the first time ever I think he actually aimed for the strikezone instead of the edge of it on the first pitch.
I only watched it because the NYY game got postponed, but man, this guy showed what he could do when he actually attacks the zone always instead of just when he's in a real jam.
Hopefully he really has changed his pitching philosophy.
But then, I am assuming you guys can't catch up to the Yankees/Rays. If that happens, I hope Dice-K gets awful again just in time for the RS to lose the wildcard.
just saw the 9th inning strike calls on baseball tonight... i mean i guess if he was calling it that way the whole game, fine, whatever. but one to youkilis and one to drew were pretty bad, and that last pitch to ortiz was a total joke.
i also think the ump probably knew he ****ed up the ortiz pitch, because ortiz basically did a leaping WTF directly at the ump with both hands extended, and he didn't get tossed (at least i don't think he did)
then beltre probably checked his swing on a 1-1 pitch and the home plate ump decided to call it himself even though it was not obvious at all that he swung (if he even did) and beltre was like 'sup dude appeal wtf not ur call' ... then francona did a good job of getting tossed because basically the whole inning was total BS
check out the pitchfx. It's kinda humorous. marcum didn't get as many "generous" strike calls as gregg, and he threw a ****ton more pitches. just a miserably umped half inning.
