Actually forget about Panda, I suspect if he has surgery he may soar above 500lb in a few months.

It actually is a pretty serious shoulder injury.

That being said, it came along at a convenient time since he is reaching the "too fat to tie his shoes" level. I mean, he wasn't going to get much playing time, and they would've had to find an excuse, but this isn't an excuse. The injury is real.

My GF loved seeing Boston for the first time this past summer, and now loves movies where the city plays a big role. Fever Pitch was on last night. I've never watched it, but told her that I had heard it was a movie she'd prob like. She told me she saw it a long time ago, long before she met me, liked it, forgot about it, but now that she was reminded about it, wanted to watch the rest of it.

I tried, but twenty seconds of Drew Barrymore pouting was all I could take. I went in the kitchen to make dinner while she watched.

I had forgotten that the movie ended with the '04 comeback against the Yankees, and realized that my Iowa-bred GF doesn't know the first thing about that story. And I mean the first thing: she's heard of Babe Ruth, but had no idea he ever played for Boston. I tried to tell her the whole thing, but there was no way she could grasp the enormity of it without having been there to see it, to live it...but she knew it must be something big, because I *still* can't talk about that team without crying.

When dinner was ready, I didn't put it on the table. I brought it into the living room, and dialed up Four Days In October on NetFlix. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. How did so much crazy stuff happen over four games? You've probably forgotten the 7th or 8th craziest thing (Tony Clark's ground rule double to right, or Wakefield throwing 11 wild pitches in a somehow scoreless inning, or the umps botching the call on Bellhorn's HR, but huddling up and correcting it, leading to so much debris thrown onfield that cops in riot gear had to ring the field), so overshadowed by bloody socks, Ortiz' heroics, Roberts' steal, etc.

When it was over, GF said, "I've seen you cry before.…but never this much, lol."
