first of all, completely irrelevant. By this logic, nobody should carry more than 8-9 guys on their team if they won't play them in the playoffs.
Secondly, I'm not so sure he won't get minutes in the playoffs this year. Unless they make a trade, they really don't have another SG/SF on the team after the starters. The majority of minutes logged by the team this year has either had PP/Allen or Daniels subbing for one of them. But I guess there's a chance they go small with rondo/robinson/allen or big with pierce/davis/garnett/perk. But I think that Daniels will probably get some minutes that Tony Allen got last year.
Regardless, even if he doesn't, that doesn't mean anything. What it means is that the Celts bench, (when healthy) is very deep. I don't think Daniels is a stud. I think he's an average bench guy. You say he is a minus on the floor. The numbers disagree. Your reasoning for him sucking is a one game sample where he was fairly invisible. Big deal. I saw Luke Harangody own souls a month ago. I'm not predicting him for the HOF anytime soon.
Daniels has played 800 minutes on a very good team. He's not going to put up a shitton of points, but he'll take decent enough care of the ball, and play passable defense. For an 8man, that's good enough for me.
