I'm not convinced Rondo is our best player right now. The assists are great, but he still turns the ball over too much. Plus, he's actually got a negative +/- this year, however variance induced that may be. I think KG is still our clear number 1, and Pierce is probably #2.

KG, now healthy again is our best player imo.

KG if he stays at this level throught the year, ok i can agree on. pierce? rondo has been worth more the past two seasons and PP is now another year older. whatever, as of today they are all extremely close and i admit i have mancrush on rondo, so im biased. lets just hope he gets rested and KG stays where hes at.

I agree on KG and Rondo second. However, I'm probably also biased as I'm really not a big fan of Pierce. He just seems like such an a s s.

Yeah, I have a huge mancrush on rondo too. At least once a game he does something that just makes my jaw drop. But I'm trying to stay objective, and I think the turnovers right now are preventing him from being the star we all like to think he is.

hes been more valuable the last two years than steve nash and derrick rose and a lot of other quality/star type point guards(according to win shares). his defense is just really really good.

hes pretty easily a top 5 PG in the NBA. i dont how you define a 'star' but top 5 at your position has to be pretty darn close.

most players have warts, shaq cant shoot free throws, doesnt mean he wasnt top 3 nba for a decade.

sorry to come off argumentative but i just think he gets underrated by some because of his skill-set.

lol, that wasn't argumentative at all. you're getting soft in your old age.

i'm not familiar with win shares. i mostly just know about per and adj +/-

so i'm looking at win shares. rondo was #1 on the team last year, but this year he is well behind KG, Pierce and ray, and even shaq (per 48). i realize it's only been 25 games, but his TO rate has gone up from 19% to 26%. maybe it's not even that i think you're overrating rondo, but that you're underrating pierce, who's been his usual stud self.

or im looking at a sample of 150+ instead of 20?

pierce is great, i still think rondo is more important (ignoring who backs him up if he goes down).

alsp per 48 is cool and everything, but i dont think pierce can play the minutes rondo can and produce the same. same w shaq (obv) and kg.

the per 48 was only for shaq obv.

you may be right regarding the minutes over the course of the season though. it'll be interesting to see how much (if any) pierce, KG, allen wear down over the course of the season.

Shaq is awesome, he really seems to be enjoying his time in boston so far and it seems like he's had a positive effect on the rest of the team (besides the delonte/von fight i guess, lol)...god i love this team

HUGE sigh of relief hearing that KG's injury is just a strained ~calf muscle and he'll only miss a couple weeks. I don't know if I'm gonna survive this whole season...

Fun game. Celts pretty much coasted throughout the entire game. Plenty of sloppy play, but you could tell they were just far and away the much better team.

It was fun seeing Harangody play well. He always seemed to be in the right spot at the right time, and he was clearly hot shooting the ball.

It took going to a game in person to see how bad Semih is. He just seems to be lumbering around out there with little clue what to do. But he was still better than Bradley, who was just awful. I know he's young and stuff, but god damn.

Rondo was his typical self. Lots of jaw-dropping plays, and lots of turnovers from trying to do too much.

Best part of the night (besides Harangody's coming-out party): On Boston's first technical free throw, both Pierce and Allen went up to the line to take the shot. Allen was laughing at the ref who wasn't sure who to give the ball to, and Pierce just stared at him stonefaced. Finally, after about 5 seconds, Pierce turns away and leaves. That's pretty much the story of this game. They really treated this game as an all-star game, and were totally Brett Favreing it up out there.

Harangody (kind of) reminds me of a white version of Big Baby. Big (but not tall) with not much lift but a good feel for where the ball will be so decent rebounding and a nice touch for a big man.

So did the Celts purposefully draft a great big ginger to replace Scal in order to appease their fanbase?
