Sorely needed to achieve what? A reliable .500 team and near-certain elimination from the playoffs by the second round?

Asik is 27. Is he part of a rebuilding project? Or, is he somebody trying to help the Celtics win now. Or both?

Granted, the Clippers 2015(?) draft pick may not yield a player who even makes the roster.

Frankly, I wanted the Celtics to be poor this year. But, Stevens has them playing hard and the east stinks. Their destined to go nowhere of significance( first round loss at best). Yet, for what they are giving up its worth to see what Asik can do. His 15mm while high next year won't hinder future plans and like you said that draft pick from clips isn't of too much value.

With Morey pulling back its moot, yet I would have liked to see the move done.

Ohh and they certainly need a center. No one currently on the roster is a defensive presence in the lane. In his brief time starting Asik has proved more then adequate on defensive end.

Teams know Houston has no leverage. They don't want to pay a backup 15 mil. Wait until the deadline is closer and offer less

This, although I'm still not thrilled about paying 15 mil for him

That's why you can get him cheaper in terms of what you have to give up.

I agree, the Rockets need to dump him at this point

Great tributes last night! Nicely done by all involved.

So does KG get his number in the rafters?

Of course he will. I think the real question is if Allen will be up there.

It was time for Allen to go anyway, the only issue is that he went to the Heat.

No that wasn't the only issue. He claimed that the Celtics disrespected him with a low ball offer when the Celts offered more than Miami. There's bad blood there.

For the record, I don't think I've ever claimed to be an NBA expert.

The Celtics 25-57 record give them the fifth worst record in the NBA after losing a random draw tie-breaker to Utah.

The Celtics have a 10.3% chance of getting the #1 pick in the NBA lottery. (Milwaukee 25.0%, Philadelphia 19.9%, Orlando 15.6%, Utah 10.4%, Los Angelas 6.3%, Sacramento 4.3%, Detroit 2.8%, Cleveland 1.7%, New Orlanes 1.1%, and Denvery, New York, Minnesota, and Phoenix have < 1.0%.)

The Celtics have a 33.4% chance of a top 3 pick.

Here's a full breakdown of the Celtics chances.

#1: 10.3%
#2: 11.1%
#3: 12.0%
#4: 0.0% (due to losing tiebreaker to Utah)
#5: 23.8%
#6: 34.2%
#7: 8.2%
#8: 0.4%

The Celtics also get Brooklyn's #1 pick which will be 17th overall.

I'll be thrilled with a top three pick. Looking forward to the lottery.

With that said, I've enjoyed watching Pierce in the playoffs with the Nets. I'm happy for him that he gets to play some meaningful games, he'll always be a Celtic.

And are projected to get there.

The Phoenix Suns stepped up at the end of the season by winning three of their last four games. That pushed the Celtics' (Brooklyn Nets) pick to the 3 seed in the Draft Lottery.

Our chances of landing the #1 pick is 15.6%.

Our chances of getting a top 3 pick is 46.9%. (and I keep reading this draft is sort of top-3 heavy)

The Celtics will also have either the #16 or #17 pick in the first round via the Dallas Mavericks. (a tiebreaker with Memphis tbd)

And, they'll have their own first round pick.
