Basketball really confuses me. Not the game but the "how to build a good team" process along with all the crazy rules about matching salaries and max salaries. (One team can pay more than another even if both can fit the player under the cap. What the **** is that?) Then you have all the issues inherent with star players dictating where they want to play.

When you toss all that into the mix it's hard to say which direction is correct for rebuilding. But any way you try to go it seems like you need to get very lucky at a couple of inflection points along the way.

I'm not a big BB fan but I'm quite interested to see what happens with the Celts over the next 3-5 years.

I just hope they don't try the get real bad to get good route. They tried that twice, had the worst record twice and got ****ed in the Lottery twice and it was too long a stretch before they got competitive.

Are you paying attention? That's what they're doing. They're gonna win like 30 games next year.

30 win season is not tanking for the #1 pick. If they keep Rondo and Green, they could possibly do a quick rebuild.

The green contract is horrendous. He should be shipped at the first sign of interest.

Rondo and Green both suck. Super tilting reading facebook updates from Boston friends overrating both of them.

Embrace the tank, bros.

The SE offseason thread makes it sound like the Celtics just hired a young NBA version of Bill Belichick.

We seem to be doing the "tank for Andrew Wiggins" thing wrong.

Something needs to change. This winning is unacceptable

Totally forgot that we have the Nets pick this year too. Two lottery picks one time, please?????

We don't. We have the worst (lowest) pick between the nets and the Hawks. So we probably aren't getting a lotto pick out of it.

Did you know the Celtics are in first place in the Atlantic division?

If the season ended today, the Celtics (8-12) would be the 4-seed in the Eastern Conference. They'd have home court advantage against the 5-seed Atlanta (9-10).

Getting into the Lottery may not be so easy.

Did not know this at all. That sucks.

This team really needs to start losing. ALOT. With the young core they already have, if they got a superstar, they'd be unstoppable in a couple of years. This is the draft to do it.

I've never rooted for one of my teams to tank but this is absolutely the year to do it.

Too bad the East is absolute garbage.

It's definitely time to face reality. The Celtics don't suck. They're mediocre (even without Rondo) and that'll be good enough to make the playoffs in the East.

Celtics about to add Asik?? I like the proposed trade sending Bass, Lee and a 1st rounder

No way to give up Bass and a first rounder for him, Lee is just a throw away

You wouldn't give up bass and a 1st rounder( believe the one for doc from clips)... C's have a logjam of talent at the Pf position and while Bass is a good player he is replaceable. Asik would provided the needed size and interior d that is sorely missing.
