The Celtics should be sellers before the trade deadline, get whatever they can for Pierce, Allen and KG and keep Rondo who is under contract for very reasonable money.

Pierce is the only one worth a **** at this point, and we'll never get close to good value for him. :|

Pierce is 34. He can still play but it will go fast and they will get nothing for him. The big mistake the C's made with Bird McHale and Parish was hanging on to all of them too long. It killed the franchise for years. They have to dump these aging superstars now while they can still get something for them.

I hardly know how the NBA works - but from the little I understand you can't just make trades you have to match salaries (within something like 10%) in both directions. Therefore, it's very unlikely they are able to unload all three. Most likely scenario is they could get something for Allen, since his contract is the smallest.

There is value in just holding them until the contracts expire and using that money to attract FA's. It's hard to see them finding suitable players to trade for that have roughly matching salaries.

Meh, I much prefer seeing Pierce staying in Boston to being traded. We wouldn't get **** for him, most likely a C/C+ 25-28 year old guard with little potential and some draft picks. Seeing him end his career as a Celtic is worth more imo.

We lose Allen and Garnet this offseason and we free up a ton of salary space.

I think we need to get Howard from the Magic, who I currently hate, but would instantly love if he was wearing green.

but, i would hate to see rondo/howard missing 10+ free throws evry 4th qtr. so trade rondo for kemba and we're all good.

I think you are correct. The way you would do this is to trade with a team that needs that one piece to put them over. That team would have to have a guy thats useless with a bad contract. So you take that guy to match the salaries but that team has to give you something else of value, either a young player with potential or a first round draft pick.

Ideally you want the bad contract to be expiring so you can use that money to attract a free agent.

i know the rumor is rondo and bass for gasol. If we do this I would love it. We still would have two close to max contracts and we can go after williams, and howard in the summer, williams, pierce, gasol, and howard would be rapeeeeeeeeee

I love Rondo so much, but even I am starting to doubt if he could ever be a leader for the C's after Pierce.

Anybody still have doubts about keeping rondo?

I just hope all of the bs about him not listening/ etc. are way overplayed. I hate to think of what would happen to the team if we lose Allen, Garnet and have to rebuild for 1-2 years and what it could do to him. When he threw the ball at the ref he was acting a little silly, and I just hope he can keep it in check.

I love Rondo and my cat is named Rondo. I just hope he has it under control if things dont always go well.

P.S. Avery Bradley seems to be contributing a lot to the recent success.

Rant: I've had this pet peeve with Rondo where he does this stupid thing where he lets the ball roll up the floor without touching it so the clock doesn't start. It might have some limited value when you're down to less than 10 seconds in the game but other than that its just stupid. Well last night it resulted in a costly turnover. There was over a minute left with the Celts down 2 and he let the ball roll up the floor as he usually does and the spurs don't defend at all and the ball makes it over into the forecourt when all of a sudden a Spur makes a run at Rondo and he has to quickly pick up the ball and then he gets flustered and throw a bad pass that results in a costly turnover.

I love Rondo but he has to stop this stupid habit. Just dribble the ball up like a normal person.

Great win last night. They keep this up and I'll allow myself to dream they can do some damage in the playoffs. Call me crazy but I think Steimsma has the potential to be a serviceable center on a par with Perkins.

I really think they can do some damage in the playoffs (I know I'm an eternal optimist) but with KG playing like he did four years ago and Rondo doing his thing, I think they have a chance.

I'm pretty excited for the playoffs to be honest.

The reason he does it is to maximize the time they have to run an offensive play.

Usually, often instinctively, a defender is going to put pressure on Rondo to pick up the ball, which can be really good considering how fast Rondo is and he is more comfortable with this (does it more) than the defenders.

Of all of Rondo's stupid habits, this is the one that bothers you the most?

It's not even in my top 10, I don't think.

Actually it's the only thing he does that I don't like as I love the guy. You actually have a top ten list of things Rondo does that you don't like? I'd be interested to hear your top ten.

When they cleanly win the tipoff, Rondo sometimes headballs the ball to himself. Tilts the **** out of me.
