Devils and Bruins have played some exciting games against each other this season. Thomas was brilliant in this one - 42 saves!

"The Devils outshot Boston 20-1 in the final period", that was a great final period, but pretty damn pathetic as well. Team had a 2 power play opportunities and got one shot. Loss of PB and GM hurts and things like this happen I guess.

OT, Flyers turned it up to tie it. Losing close games lately.

Chara will start in the All-Star game, and Savard was named to the team as well. Lucic will play in a new thing for "new stars", I think they will go 3 on 3. When told, Lucic said "Its a honor to be representing the Boston Bruins in this fine event." He then wrestled a reporter's jacket half off and proceeded to punch him repeatedly in the head.

3 on 3 to start the OT. Murray is coming back next game I think. So what if this is my own personal blog/bruin update, hockey is the best thing going except NFL playoffs these days, fall asleep during Celtic games lately.

Do you remember Stan Mikita? Hall of Famer and one of the best center ice men of all time. One game he speared Wayne Cashman in the face and cut him. With the blood streaming from his face, Cashman chased him around the rink TWICE and couldn't catch the faster Mikita. As this was going on, all the players and the refs just stood by and watched. It ended up being pretty funny as Mikita finally ended up going round and round one of the nets and Cashman just couldn't catch him. Thank god too.....or Cashman would have really hurt him, as he had totally lost his composure.
Stuff like this gets romanticized with distance, but if they happened in the present there would be people talking about how hockey has turned into a circus because of stunts like this.

maybe so, but only because of the media circus surrounding sports.

especially when american journalists feel the need to butt in on a sports they have no idea about.

Just a quick update...feeling better today, got over my cold. My sister's baby is really cute, it cool to be an uncle. The White Stripes are great, as I'm sure most of you know. Probably play cards tomorrow, get back into the swing of things, but we'll see how it goes.

The Bruins teach us not to be perfectionists. Its easy to support the other Boston teams.

Trading Thorton was fine. It's the rest of the guys that they didn't resign along the way to play with Joe Thorton that really ruined this team. By the time they got rid of Joe, it was already over anyway. But hey, it's nice to get that small-market feel in the city of Boston. Know I know what it's like to be, say, a Kansas City Royals fan...

Same as last game, down 0-1, now up 2-1. See if we can get the win, that shootout last game was sad.

Game is on NBC today in a few. Check it out or Chara will beam you to his home planet where all is ice and everybody is 7 feet tall moving real fast with sticks in their hands and a shove from behind is how they say hello.

Thanks big Al, go BB, looking good especially no PJ or Glen. TT is hot between the pipes and 33 back there, tough to score.

damn, I saw the post title and was hoping for something about Orr, Esposito and that era.

Still the best bumper sticker of all time:

Jesus Saves,
and Esposito scores on the rebound.

Well Hyde, I might have reminisced a bit more, but then I'd just get accused by someone who probably never the had the experience of watching the "real" Big, Bad Bruins play, of 'romanticizing' their play because it was a while ago.

Hey......wtf do I know?

Glen Metropolit always sticks his nose in something, he fought hard to get to the NHL. Tim Thomas same thing. This team has come together, fought adversity and injury, and are playing up to their full potential. They grinded out a win against a more talented team (okay Rangers suck but why they suck is my point) for the second day in a row because they played harder and smarter. Old time hockey like Eddie Shore.

I'd be fairly surprised if the Bruins make the playoffs this season.
