Seems to be more panic than I thought out of Baltimore after this week's Bills game. Is it just me, or is anyone else not worried at all about it?

We were going into the bye week and now have two weeks to get everyone health(y-ier). Sure, "it was the Bills," 500 yds of offense, corners looking lost, etc, etc

I'm not worried. Bills put up 30 points in New England.

It's going to take a game or two to re-adjust to having Reed back. We'll be able to provide a bit more pressure up front knowing he's roaming the backfield. So I think with the bye, they should come back strong. Washington looked bad though one and one and Fitzpatrick picked on him a bit. It's still our weakness, but the defense is consistently playing in a bend-but-not-break type way... they still can manage to get the big stops and we're -2 in turnover differential I believe which is a reason some of these games are closer than I think the talent of the teams involved indicate. imo ldo.

good timing for a bye... Miami coming to town in week 9 and then we have a tough game at Atlanta. 1-1 out of those two would be okay, 2-0 would be fantastic and really set us up well.

31 points and 500+ total yards indicates more break than bend.

actually, it was 34.

but I'm still optimistic. if Miami lights us up, I'll likely be singing a different tune.

wheeeeeeeeeee

some pretty lolbad red zone offense this week. the series right after Webb's INT was just awful, like one of the worst series ran by any team that I've seen for the entire year. and the botched hold on the kick later was bad, but Koch redeemed himself on the fake punt which was great.

Brown ran on us pretty well, especially on the first drive. not sure why Miami just didn't keep hammering the ball on the ground but it's worrisome that we got moved on in that drive. can already see the effect of having Reed back though, defended the pass pretty well and Wilson had a really solid game with a few deflections. Washington needs to pick it up.

anyways I'm pretty happy with this, this was a really solid win on both sides of the ball. another game coming up though where we have to go on the road against another tough team... not been easy so far with games @NYJ, @PIT, @NE and now @ATL. plus it's on short rest... the only benefit that I see is that it's only a 4 day wait for the next game.

xposting my thoughts from the Dolphins game that I wrote up on another forum.

I think the POTW is really a 2 man race between Flac-daddy and Rice... thus only 2 options in the poll. If you REALLY think someone else needs a nod feel free to speak up.

Notes for the game:

Arrow First and foremost I need to point out Joe's play this week. This was by far his best performance of the season. Maybe not purely statwise, but he looked like a completely new QB. I did not see him pull the ball and sprint for the sidelines when coverage broke down ONE TIME! BIG improvement. Not only that, but he was actually stepping up in the pocket and looking down field, instead. He seemed to progress through his reads much better than he has up to this point and just find the open man. He did not force bad passes and risk turning the ball over. While we don't want to take sacks, I feel like he played near flawless other than the pass he almost through for a pick 6 on an out route to if I recall right Boldin where he stared him right down. Lucky for us they done goofed and no harm was done. All in all, A+ 5* game. The off week really seemed to be huge for Joe and our offense/team as a whole. I'm super excited to see if he can now keep up this level of play.

Arrow Anyone else notice that #20 fella out there making plays? I know I have. It almost seems as if he's been hurt all year... oh, wait. Ed Reed once again comes up with a big INT this week. It's no coincidence that since Reeds return our defense seems to just be finding the ball and actually securing the INTs. Even at his age and after recent injuries, teams still game plan around Reed. He instills fear into opposing QBs to the point where they at time won't even throw anywhere near him... but yet the ball still manages to just find him week in and week out.

Arrow The defense as a unit stepped up and played a very good game today. Outside of MIA's opening drive I feel we shut down Miami's offense pretty damn good. 3 INTs and 1 FF today. It's nice to see us finally winning the turnover battle. Hopefully this continues and we're able to claw our way to the top of the NFL in this category, where we belong.

Arrow QB PRESSSSSSSURE! I'd have watch the game again more closely, but from what I remember it seems that we got a good bit of pressure on Henne all game. Sizzle and Ngata both came up with pretty key sacks today. Aside from that it seemed that we had someone in the Phins backfield all day not giving Henne a chance to set his feet. Remember how I mentioned 3 INTs? I feel like it's pretty obvious that with good QB pressure comes more arid throws... which lead to more INTs/turnovers. That said, I'm still not 100% confident with our pass rush looking forward, but if we can play at the level we did today I think we will be fine. I'd also (like a lot of you guys) like to see Krugar get some more PT and see what he's got to offer.

Arrow Spreading the love. We really distributed the ball well around our offense today. I counted 6 different Ravens with receptions (not counting Cary on the fake punt, but boy that was sweet Smile), and 4 different Ravens getting touches in the running game (not counting Joe). I really like to see this; a nice well balanced offense is never a bad thing. We need more of this. I'm looking at you, Cam.

Arrow Speaking of the 4 different rushers... one of them was David Reed. I'm actually pretty excited to see him getting some touches to see what he can do. He got a chance on KR's today and did pretty well. He's been a beast as a ST gunner up to this point and I guess Harbs finally decided he deserved a chance to see what he can do with the ball in his hands. Other random special teams things I'd like to point out: the botched snap on our FG attempt (after that awful series of events after Webb comes up big and makes a play. Unforgivable) was a no-no. I'd have to watch again to see what exactly happened, but w/e it was it can't happen. The "audibled" fake punt pass was just a sign of all of our teams being on the same page and knowing exactly what to do when the right situation arises. It's also shows what Harbs brings to the table with his ST coaching background. Me like. Reed back returning a few punts a game is never a bad thing. Hopefully he keeps getting the chance to field a few and possibly breaking one soon.

I think I pretty much covered everything. I'm sure I still missed some points of interest, but I expect those to be brought up by other people here.

All in all, a very well played game and a solid win. It's kinda nice not sweating these things out until deep into the 4th quarter, eh?

oh well. Falcons are a good team and it was good that we didn't roll over and die after an awful first half.

still very confident in this team.

2011 schedule:

PIT
@TEN
@STL
NYJ
bye
HOU
@JAX
ARZ
@PIT
@SEA
CIN
SF
@CLE
IND
@SD
CLE
@CIN

Looks like a very easy schedule this season. Only 5 significantly above-average opponents (PIT, SD, IND, NYJ). Should probably be 3-1 heading into the week 5 bye.

In the name of all that is Holy, the Ravens performance against the Titans was putrid. It is true that Flacco did not have the time to throw that he did against Pittsburgh, but his decision making was atrocious.

The defense has picked up where it left off last year by not being able to defend QB's who unload the ball quickly. Not being able to get off the field on 3rd down is killing this team.

Last two Ravens playoff losses have been so brutal. First to blow a big halftime lead to your division rival with a Super Bowl on the line and now for Lee Evans/Billy Cundiff to make incredibly unlikely poor plays that could've won/tied the game. I'd say the Steelers lost hurt more(I didn't even want to think about football for months after that game and barely paid attention to the SB that year while at a SB party, but its close. Being on the bad end of variance hurts so much. Pretty much any one score game could've had a different outcome if one key fluky play does or does not happen. There easily could be a world where the Ray Lewis Ravens have as many SB titles as the Brady Pats or Big Ben Steelers. With that said...

The Ravens have given us one SB already. They have so many good things going for them. Their front office destroys all but maybe 2 or 3 other FOs in the entire NFL. Their franchise QB was GREAT today, their defense was GREAT today, and they pretty much played the Pats to a draw in New England. Overall I'm very happy with the Ravens. I think Torrey Smith's development could take the offense to the next level. Flacco will be 27 next year, so he should be entering his prime.

Bottom line: Variance happens, our team played like SB champs today and I'm happy with their performance
