EZ game

Blah, had been planning on going to the home opener for well over a month now. Ended up procrastinating too much and not being able to find the tickets I was looking for and now I'm not even in Baltimore in case I could still find them day of.

@Cole: Jones might be getting physically stronger, but he had a pretty poor drop off last year and hasn't gotten anything going thus far. Obviously 3 games isn't an indicator of anything but iirc he doesn't have a hit yet. I'm still confident he can / will turn it around to something respectable but I'm starting to worry he might not live up to my high expectations I placed on him a few years ago.


Hope we can keep the winning streak alive and make it 4 in a row kids!

I'm watching the gamecast on ESPN right now. Either they're getting the pitch locations screwed up, or this umpire is ****ing terrible.

Top of the 1st, a pitch in the middle of the strike zone got called a ball. Bottom of the 1st, a pitch about half the length of one of those little squares out of the zone on the inside corner (and I think it was a little low) got called a strike.

I really hope it's just ESPN screwing up, because if the umpire is really this bad, it's gonna be a long long game.

yea the ump has been bad, but usually umps dont call strikes when the catcher has to move his glove a foot or so back over the plate

Can I be an umpire too? Doubt I could be any worse than this guy.

Blah. Thinking about this season I'm actually stating to get really worried with all of the injuries to our starting pitchers.

Hopefully Buck can hold everything together until everyone is healthy and we can have a legit 5-man rotation.

originally from Pittsburgh...live in Baltimore now, been going to games for years, hate large market teams like Yankees RedSox and Phillies

not a big fan of MLB not having a level playing field with no salary cap like the other major sports have

Like I posted in the main MLB thread, give him some time. He's still young and we have one of the best managers in the league wrt developing young pitching.

Plus, he hasn't lost us a game yet!

This kinda shocks me. Yea, he came up huge today for insurance runs but I kinda can't stand him :-\. I really want to like him, but iunno. Guess I'll give him some time before making any brash decisions.

On a related side note I'm going to the game today/tomorrow (opener vs Texas). So excited! Mostly about getting to watch Britton (man crush, etc) but also at the shot of taking over the MAJORS top record.

I don't know how Koji does it, but he makes it look so easy. He just pounds away at the strike zone and just gets outs..

bullpen is definitely going to be key this year. i'm comfortable with Berken, Johnson, and Koji. love Koji - very smart, throws strikes, changes speeds, works both sides of the plate. gonzalez and gregg are way too inconsistent - way too many walks. IF gonzalez and gregg have decent seasons, bullpen is going to be a real strength of the team, imo.
