Anyone else kind of wishing we made the Brandon Phillips deal in the offseason?

I'm not sure. Probably not. I think we would have had to give up one or two of our top pitching prospects to get the deal done. Plus we have a young, cheap 2+ WAR second baseman ready right now at AAA. Phillips is signed for the next 4? years...so he'd be blocking La Stella. meh.

I think I read somewhere that they're announcing 2 new awards at the end of the year.

The American League will have the Mariano Rivera award for the best relief pitcher in the AL,

and the NL has the Trevor Hoffman award.

I hope Kimbrel wins the NL award... I guess his stiffest competition is Francisco Rodriguez who currently has the most saves, but I think Kimbrel is much nastier, obv

That's pretty cool.

They're also going to have a Chris Johnson award for most temper tantrums thrown by a grown man. It's going to be a giant pacifier.

What are they waiting for? Just cut Fuggla already and eat the salary.

In all fairness I appreciate a Braves player with passion and gets angry when he isn't helping the team. Remember when Andruw Jones use to smile after striking out or Chipper's sometimes meh attitude?

He can be as angry and as passionate as he wants as long as he isn't putting himself or the people around him in danger of injury..which is what he's done multiple times. That definitely needs to stop.

Regarding La Stella...I've read online that the Braves are trying to wait until he's ineligible for Super Two which would save them a lot of money. But that wouldn't be for at least another month from what I gather. If we weren't struggling so bad on offense I think I'd agree with that strategy while platooning Pena/Pastornicky but yea..we really need his bat in the lineup.

When just looking at WAR keeping him in the minors another month would cost us probably around half a win but this isn't in a vacuum...I think adding him to the lineup would elevate everyone else.

If every win is worth like 7-8mil then hell what's the point of trying to save that $ when keeping him in the minors might be costing us just as much?

La Stella
Heyward
Simba
Freeman
Justin
Oso
Chris "might actually walk occasionally now" Johnson
pitcher
Bossman Junior

I know Simba batting third is controversial, but I say go with it for a month and fire me if you don't like it after that.

haha yea Simba 3rd seems pretty bad. La Stella/Heyward/Freeman/Justin/Oso top 5 in whatever order and then Simmons/BJ/Johnson 6-8 in whatever order imo

Johnson wtf man. get your **** together. Although looking at his peripherals they're like exactly the same as previous seasons lol i dunno

While watching this game I was like wow Laird seems like a pretty terrible pitch-framer. Apparently he really is quite awful. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/ar...rticleid=22934

Basically he's consistently in the bottom 10 every year in runs saved per framing chance or whatever.

Who's the worst pitch-framer in baseball? Ryan Doumit. lol.

Who is one of the best? Brian McCann.

Who is pretty good? Gattis.
