Apparently the Braves are trying to trade for Jeff Samardzija which makes too much sense. Salary will be very team friendly til he hits free agency after the 2015 season. Theo might rape us tho.

Samardzija is a guy I have a high opinion of, and I think he could benefit greatly from Roger McDowell.

Yeah, worried though what types of guys we'd have to give up to make it work with Theo.

YOUR RYAN BUCHTER UPDATE

he struck out 26 batters in 13 innings and allowed 5 hits in mexican winter ball, only giving up one run

i think he walked 4 guys but i can't remember

26 in 13 is pretty sick.

I'm digging the Samardzija rumor too. He's a young high K guy with lots of upside.

We are reportedly close in negotiating a FA deal with Gavin Floyd.

He's pretty meh. Good for depth, I guess.

We traded Sean Gilmartin to the twins for Ryan Doumit.

Well, I guess our organization knows best about Gilmartin, and Doumit is another power-hitting catchers, when he's healthy.

Seems ok, I guess. There wasn't much upside with Gilmartin even before last season and his shoulder troubles. Not the greatest 1st round pick in history.

The Braves are currently in the midst of a 20-year TV deal that pays them just $10-20 million per season. Atlanta lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs last year -- a team that makes $280 million a year for its own TV contract.

Eric O'Flaherty signs a 2 year, $7M deal with Oakland, incentives could push it to 10M

I liked him, but I wouldn't want to pony that up for someone who's timetable for a return is June/July at best

Plus, what with the way we treat our relief pitchers financially, I wouldn't want us to match that and I guess I wish him the best of luck

Man that sucks but I understand with our cap situation. Don't know how much he'll help this season anyways.

Maddux isnt going to have any logo for the HoF. He said he couldnt decide between Atlanta and Chicago.

Signed a split-deal. Added to the 40-man this year.

Depends on a few things:

1) If the Barves think he won't walk so many guys
2) How good Venters/Avilan will be (Venters isn't really a LOOGY or anything but Avilan basically is)

He has a big league camp invite but I assume he'll be sent to AAA to wait out Avilan/Venters in the majors.
