Fredi has to go, anyone who has watched every Braves game this year will agree. He can't manage a game at all, got so lucky in so many spots this year.

I got Oct. 9, 2005 as slightly worse due to prolonged and crushing nature of tie in 9th and win in 18th after game was in the bag at 6-1 in the 8th, plus the pats are more hateable:

Time for Freddi to go for incompetence at the job. Wren too for the BJ and Uggla contracts.

Ya wow that day was absurd. I don't even remember that Falcons loss, probably because I was so focused on the Braves that day.

Chipper pissed off the Braves;
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10/...nes-1st-pitch/

Welp that didnt take long. Of course no mention of this at AJC because their noses are up Chipper's ass too far to mention anything negative.

But really WTF Chipper? Can't even support your old team. Ah well, he's always been a bit of a selfish prick so it's no big surprise.

So because he played on the Braves he has to pick them forever when we were clearly the underdogs? That's really stupid. Chipper has been very supportive of the Braves. Props to him for being honest and not a disingenuous homer. He was asked a question and answered it. And he was right.

I don't care. You're the face of the franchise for 20 years.

I guarantee you Derek Jeter is never picking against the Yankees in the ALDS.

Chipper made a very poor decision not picking the Braves.

Braves made a very poor decision turning into a big deal.

Dumb by both parties, but what do you expect from athletes really?

It's just a very unnecessary stance from Chipper. As you say he's been the team's biggest fan since he retired. He's around the ballpark all the time, calls the guys his brothers, etc. It's just not the time or place to be objectively honest just so you can show how smart you are. He should absolutely be a huge homer in this instance.

It's like a lot of encounters in life, being brutally truthful can very often be the suboptimal decision.

If we let McCann, Ayala, Hudson, Maholm, EOF, Downs, and F. Garcia walk, I have us being able to put together a completely in-house 25-man roster for ~$83m*.

I believe the normal max number is in the $95-100m range, so we've got some wiggle room.

Have a couple spots we could help shed that number a bit too (like non-tendering Venters, trading Uggla and not having to eat all of his contract, etc)

*Arb estimations are always tricky, but I think I came pretty close last year. Hardest to figure out are the raise sizes for Medlen, Heyward, Freeman, and Kimbrel. Kimbrel is set to make a pile this year if his arbitration process is anything like Papelbon's was in Boston (which is the closest/best comp I could think of).

BTW going completely in-house has the rotation as Melden, Minor, Teheran, Beachy, and Wood or Hale.

I'd expect us to be spend some portion of that available money on a SP either to add depth to what we have and/or bring in a guy that we expect to be in the rotation.

I'd expect us to either extend Kimbrel to something semi-team friendly or trade him either before this season or the next.

I've got him making $6.5m next year as an first year arb guy, and I think I'm probably shorting him by a bit.

Or we could raise payroll, but yeah...

I would be surprised if we don't give Hudson another 1-2 year contract.

Kimbrel should be gone within the next few years imo.

It's pretty brutal how it's going to all unfold I think.

All of the guys under team control in 2014 are under control in 2015 aside from Laird and Reed Johnson and we 100% cannot afford them all unless we raise payroll.

One (or more) of Heyward, Justin, Freeman, Medlen, Kimbrel will be dealt before Opening Day 2015 IMO.

We should consider trading Uggla with someone good to a team so they are willing to take on his salary. Only way to really keep this core together for both years. Maybe Uggla and Wood packaged together for not much in return aside from $26m in salary relief?
