Atlanta Braves: Win More Games Than The Hawks? Atlanta Braves: Win More Games Than The Hawks?

Esco and Chipper have both been hitting well lately, they just aren't slugging for ****.

I expect them both to turn that around, and Escobar will soon be an offensive beast as well imo.

edit:

LOL, yeah at least there weren't many people affected by their untimely hitting in the late innings, I think we can all take solace in that.

Yeah, it's really hard to figure what would actually make this team better w/o sacrificing depth.

I think a Hinske/Diaz platoon in left will work out well, and Blanco/Melky should fill in fine for McClouth (who hopefully produces around expectation when he's back) without being much of a liability hitting in the 8 spot.

I don't think we could improve any infield position, so I'm in favor of keeping our prospects and current team intact.

We have enough pitching that if some of our hitters can get hot in October we could make a legit run at the ultimate prize.

Man the pitching is really carrying us right now. We haven't scored more than 5 runs in any of the last 10 games yet we're 6-4 and 6-2 in the last 8.

Hopefully the bats come alive in philly and NY or we might be in for a rough 6 games.

Who's spot is McLouth gonna take when he comes back? (i'd rather see him just spend eternity in AAA but it doesn't seem like the Braves feel the same)

I guess it would Blanco...sigh

That guy with the .468 OBP% and 918 OPS, that's playing great in the field.

Yeah that's Blanco... sigh indeed.

Only 43 AB's but still, those 43 AB's have been more productive than McLouth's 170.

lol mets

15 games over .500 and a 3 game lead after 81 games. And the 2nd half should be much easier than the 1st. Not bad.

Fml if McLouth takes over for Blanco.

Pretty amazing considering how poorly we started this year.

I wouldn't have thought we would be in such a great spot halfway through the season before our first game.

It would be so epic to send Bobby out with a deep playoff run, 1 time Braves!

Hudson vs Nolasco on Sunday, looking good for a sweep.

Go Braves!

Pitching carrying them now. Run scoring has dropped some with Heyward out.

I have 2 bets going on the Braves. I have the over with a Red Sox fan set at 86.5 and a bet with Phillies friend of mine that the Braves will win the division. 20 games into the season I was thinking about buying out. I decided to wait until the All-Star break. Now they are begging for buy-outs. I moved back to Atlanta in December after living in MN and Cali for ten yrs. I could not have asked for a funner ATL summer. This reminds me of the summer of '91.

We can only hope that Blanco keeps this pace up and forces Bobby to play him.

In previous years I would be skeptical about Blanco's chances (assuming he continues to play well) of starting over McLouth, but Medlen has given me hope that Cox plans to use the best players going forward.

McLouth should be a decent player in theory, he has around an 800 OPS projection. He's just sucked so bad this year, so if he doesn't pick it up we still have a great replacement.

Worst to ****ing first!

I was 10 years old in 91, that team made me a Braves fan for life, the comeback kids.

This team reminds me of them so much, and I love them for that.

edit:

Your bets look amazing right now, GLGL obv!

Ticket to a Nats game, 3 beers, and a hotdog: $50

Watching the Mets blow a 3 run lead in spectacular fashion: Priceless

I was in 7th grade and our science teacher spent up half the period everyday talking about the Braves in the fall of '91. When I was a kid I grew up on Murphy, Niekro and Horner. Awesome players, but ****ty teams. I remember being at a wedding reception during game 5 at a ritzy place in Vinnings and everyone was glued to the tube and paying zero attention to the wedding festivities.
When I moved to MN, I always caught **** for '91. Good natured ofc, cause thats how Minnesotans roll, and I always reminded them of '98 NFC championship game. Nothing would make me more proud than for Chipper to crush the Mets in order to get into the NLCS and crush the Twin to win it all.

I mean is this even a question? I want to see a show where Huddy and Hinske are riffing. Two funniest guys on the club. Love the "At home with the Hudsons," where Timmy's wife was like yeah I am super smart, but he was blessed to play baseball. Huddy's response to his wife: "What you think Im a dummy?"

lol wtf? Somebody told me he was an all star and I thought he was joking. That's awesome

"To be precise, Infante is going to Anaheim for the Midsummer Classic because he doesn’t have a position. Baseball changed its rules this season, allowing each All-Star manager to designate one player who can re-enter the game after leaving, which essentially means “utility man” is now an All-Star slot.
