Being a fan of your hometown team is better than people who like the Yankees, Notre Dame, UNC, Man U and the Patriots. Not that you do that, but isn't it normal to like teams where you grew up?

I live in Cubland, but became a Braves fan early on because my grandpa watched them every night on TBS. Part of me died when they took the Braves off TBS because it's almost impossible to watch them with any frequency now (can't really afford any of the $100 options).

Cubs are on all the time.

Saw Hanson pitch tonight in Durham.

5.2 IP, 3H, 2BB, 1 ER, 7K

Looked very good IMO and retired the last 10 batters he faced.

I wouldn't be surprised at ALL if the Marlins are in 1st in the NL East heading into May, June, and possibly beyond. They can hit for power, they can run, and they can pitch. Defense still questionable, fortunately for us.

They still strike out a lot though... as Vazquez's TWELVE K's in 6 innings can attest.

Glavine considering retirement?

I am sure most of you have seen this already, but Glavine is planning on hanging it up if his shoulder isn't better in a couple of weeks.

Fine with me actually, gets us almost a full year of Hanson I would think.

Pretty sure the plan is to keep Hanson in Triple A until June so they can delay his clock starting. They called up Reyes to take Glavine's spot on the 18th I believe.

yup.

I'm assuming we're gonna give Hanson the 5th starters spot and move Reyes into the bullpen when the time comes. Hopefully Reyes can help fill in the gap between the starters and Soriano/Gonzalez/Moylan. Another guy who might help is Kris Medlen...who should be coming up with Hanson.

the braves were my hometown team for almost 20 years

right up until tbs stopped televising games

I love the braves but hate that baseball singled out tbs in seeking to limit games televised and now that they no longer show the braves I guess directv or mlb.com will take tbs' place But it was good for baseball when the superstation gave millions of fans across the country who live in small towns in states without pro teams a home team

Great to see Chipper back in the lineup today and to see the Braves get 3 in the first

We still have the best pitching in the division and it's not particularly close imo... so we'll see.

With a favorable sked in April I'd really hoped we'd be blazing out of the gate more than this.

Basically, exactly what I expected to happen with this team has.

I felt really good about our pitching (starting) and pretty good about our bullpen but our offense worried me. I think it was very dumb to go out and give Garret Anderson $3 million and Glavine $3 million instead of attempting to fix LF by throwing money at Abreu or Dunn who were out on the market forever. The Braves offense is mediocre at best and just flatout sucks unless Chipper and McCann are in the lineup.

I think everyone's in agreement with you there.

We're gonna be in a lot of close low scoring games this season and with the way we run in one run games i'm not feeling very confident right now.

One thing i've been noticing the past few years though is that the Braves just aren't very good at doing the little things. During the dynasty days getting a guy in from 3rd with 1 out would almost be a given. The sac bunting success rate must of been 80-85% too. Back then the whole pitching staff prided themselves on their ability to bunt but now it comes as a surprise when someone gets one down successfully. The 9th inning last night was just another instance of the ineptitude the Braves have shown in similar situations.

I read the Braves scout board a lot and it's humorous over there. Basically, people always overrate Braves prospects and there is a constant "scouthead vs. stathead" debate. Most of them were against the possibility of signing Adam Dunn because he strikes out too much with some even saying "he walks too much". lol.

My favorite is after the Gammons report that Miguel Cabrera may be on the trading block at somepoint, I was in the minority of people that said they'd trade our top prospect (Jason Heyward) in a package to try to get him. Most people were saying it would be "crazy" to trade Heyward for Cabrera. *facepalm*

hahah wow. i think i'd be happy getting Cabrera for Heyward AND Freeman...much less just Heyward.

People on the Braves board hate 26 year old sluggers who are in the top 5 hitters in all of baseball and locked up until 2016 IMO.
