What a joke. The kid Medlen's making an emergency start, gets through the Phillies lineup unscathed until Joe ****ing Blanton gets a hit to keep the inning alive and the Phillies get on the board first.

If Heyward's groin injury is exacerbated by this pinch hit AB up 3-1 in the 8th, I swear...

Unless Bobby went full-****** on us this bodes well on the injury front for him right?

Great win tonight against a hell of a tough team with a replacement pitcher on hill, and the GOAT riding pine!

+1 to winning this series would be huge for us (well me at least) in the morale department.

Before the season, I thought watching a Braves game would have been this much fun more than the, oh, one time it's been so far.

Offense clicking, Hanson mowing guys down and drilling Braun and then trying to pick him off 3 times in a row right after that. <3

McCann's WIM was through the roof on that 2-6-3 double play, too.

Tommy Hanson K'ing the side, 2-3-4 in the order, too.

God Hanson is so sick.

This is what this team should look like most of the time, we take a lot of pitches imo, I like that.

I wanna write a letter to Tommy Hanson like the one Mac wrote to Chase Utley.

LOL, he probably gets thousands of those letters daily (at least he should).

Heyward probably doesn't drink (unless he's turning water into wine) but if he ever needed someone >21 to buy him beer at a gas station, and there's a cop standing right there, do you offer the cop the chance to drink a beer with a legend or do you deny him that opportunity?

I'm kind of confused by the question. Do I ask the cop if he'll buy Heyward beer?

If it's just, would I buy Heyward the beer... No doubt about it, I buy it for him. I dunno if that would change if I felt like I really had much to lose by being arrested for alcohol stuff, although the romantic in me would like to think it wouldn't change at all.

No I'm asking if you'd let the cop drink a beer with you and Heyward.

What the hell kind of crooked ass ATL copper would want to arrest an upstanding citizen such as yourself for buying a great kid like Jason Heyward beer?

Oh, excellent point. Sure, I'd drink with the cop if it was necessary. I definitely wouldn't just ask him out of the blue, though.

The Braves are going to retire Glavine's number and induct him into the Braves Hall of Fame on August 6th against the Giants.

The man was a beast for us for a long time, and he won the final game in 1995 when we were the best in the world.

GG Glavine.

Dude was a beast back in the day...certainly top 3-4 Braves pitcher ever.

Still feel a little betrayed he went to the Mutts but I can't really blame him..he's gotta feed his kids amirite. Glad to see he's back in the Braves organization doing stuff. I think him and Smoltz both have a future in broadcasting tbh...would be awesome if it happens with the Braves.

In other news the goat is back baby! time to bring the pain

woah weird lineup tonight against a RHP

Prado
Heyward
Chipper
McCann
Glaus
Hinske
Infante
McLouth
Huddy

I'm not sure if I like this tbh. I'd much rather have Heyward back in the order where he can drive in runs.

damn nevermind...Chipper was scratched after batting practice. Heyward is 3rd though which I like.

Hopefully we got a look at the next 15 years in the 3 hole tonight.

Finally this team is starting to click. It couldn't have come at a better time after the Hawks-Magic debacle imo.

Smoltz + Glavine in the broadcast booth would be sick! They even have great contrasting personalities imo, Glavine as the no nonsense serious type and Smoltz as the witty jokester would be amazing with their baseball knowledge and insight.

Great idea, hopefully the front office is reading this thread.

Brooks Conrad going deep again.. With good defense on 3rd .

..lol, Look out Chipper?

I do think Chipper needs to maybe move down lineup some when he comes back. Anyone else? thoughts?

I hope that Heyward makes it very tough for Bobby to take him out of the 3 hole.

I don't know if Bobby will actually move him though, he's been pretty stubborn about that sort of thing for his career.

I feel like he'll give Chipper the entire year to play himself out of the heart of the lineup (hopefully that doesn't happen obv).

nah leave Chipper in the 3 hole imo...i'm starting to warm up to the Prado/Heyward/Chipper top of the order.

Now if only we could get some production out of CF.

Once Chipper, McCann, and McLouth start to trend toward their career norms, we're going to be an extremely tough team to beat.

I know this season hasn't started off the way we all hoped, but if you told me that we would start the season getting the kind of production out of Jurrjens, Lowe, Chipper, McCann, Escobar and McLouth that we have been, and we'd be 2 games under .500 through 34 games and things were turning around, I'd be pretty happy.

We have a pretty big sample size for almost every key player ( Hanson and Heyward don't need sample sizes though) on the team. They've all been pretty consistent for their careers and if they all produce like they're capable of we're dangerous in the regular season, and if we can get hot in the post, we can make a run at a title imo.
