We just traded Josh Anderson to Detroit for a pitcher named Rudy Darrow.

http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/news/a...=.jsp&c_id=atl

Guess that means we're going with Jordan Schafer for the long term.

Quote:
Darrow was 5-3 with a 2.02 ERA in 47 combined appearances with Class A West Michigan and Double-A Erie last year. In the process, the hard-throwing sidearm hurler posted a ground-ball-to-fly-ball ratio of 4.8.
I suppose that's a good sign.

lets go Braves!

I had to miss the game, so I'm just going to hope we keep this up and win so I can watch it on MLB TV later.

you can't create your own save situation. that would be silly.

I don't think you can watch replays of games that were blacked out..and this one was blacked out nationally.

Oooh Brett Myers, contract year... watch out he could be big for fantasy baseball in Philly!

Or he could go back to being the most homered-off-of pitcher in the bigs.

You think our scouting team/coaches might have a book on him?

And why yes I AM a genius for drafting Jordan Schafer in my fantasy league.

The only AB I watched last night was Schafer's homer. That was pretty cool.

By the way, Braves fans, those of you who listen to the radio broadcasts will love your new guy, Jim Powell. I'm a Brewers fan, so I've listened to him for quite some time (when I can, as I now live in Atlanta - thank you MLB.com audio) and he's great.

I am trying to not get my hopes up after only one game, especially when all our runs were from HRs. However, Lowe looked beyond amazing. Yay for that!

Just remember...next year: Lowe, Hudson, Vasquez, Hanson, Jurrjens, Kawakami

Come on hitting!

Jason Heyward will also be up sometime next year, our top positional prospect, who's top 5-10 in all of baseball. Haven't seen him play but everything I've heard is he's a stud corner outfielder who can hit the cover off the ball at 19.

Kyle's fairly glowing write-up on Jair

part 1: http://www.drivelinemechanics.com/20...ile-jair-jurrj

And we Braves fans love him, obviously.

For fantasy purposes, I wish he struck more guys out.

But as the year went along (and I have absolutely no numbers to back this up) it seemed to me like he VASTLY improved getting first pitch strikes and with locating his fastball well.

There were a couple games in July/August when he really got going... it's like he told every hitter he faced, "Okay, I'll even tell ya where the first pitch'll be... it's gonna be about 92-94 mph, juuuuuust above the knees, and on the outside corner. You can either take it for strike one, or nub it weakly over to Yunel... and I don't really care which one you choose."

Mid-season Miguel Cabrera fire sale one time, hide him in LF until Chipper retires?

Or have we learned a lesson from that with Tex.

I dunno, def. wouldn't wanna give up Heyward or Hanson to make that work.

What a great opening game, I share the optimism a lot of you have. I'm just a little worried about the pen, and a few of the hitters.

Also, how nice will the AAA team in Gwinnett be this year? I'm assuming some of the guys that came up last year and pitched pretty well will be in that rotation, along with Tommy Hanson. I'm definately going to make a few trips to Gwinnett to see Hanson pitch this year, hopefully he'll still be there after the WSOP.

I know I have to be forgetting someone, but I feel like the last big acquisition who met or exceeded expectations was Greg Maddux.
