Yessir, so excited for this season. Braves fan and bet on Braves to win more than 86 games, win NL East at 7:2, and win NL at 10:1. Why? Cuz we won 86 games last year w/ Schafer being the worst CF in the NL for 2 months and Francoeur being the worst RF in the NL for half a season, and we are replacing them w/ McClouth and the the SayHewyard kid. Look out Phillies!

Re: Atlanta Braves

Not to mention wasting the same amount of games and time with Kelly Johnson at 2B and Casey Kotchman at 1B. We had 4 players in the lineup that couldn't hit for average or power, 2 at cornerstone positions where you have to get power from.

Re: Atlanta Braves

I can't wait to see Heyward in RF on opening day!

If he actually lives up to the tremendous hype is he competing with Pujols for the MVP or what?

Also don't forget a full year of Hanson, and a good chance of much better production from Chipper and Lowe than they got last year.

Re: Atlanta Braves

And I'm liking how Melky has looked this spring also. It's nice too have too many quality outfielders than too few. Probably going to platoon with Diaz in left according to the pitching matchups.

Re: Atlanta Braves

man. There are no holes on this team....kinda worried about McClouth and wish we had a real leadoff hitter but still. If the Braves stay healthy this is gonna be a really ****ing good team. ONE TIME

They just need to plug that "run bad in close games" leak and we're set.

Other than bad luck though, if everyone performs fairly consistent with their career norm, I really feel like this team could compete for a championship if a few things go their way.

Vazquez>>>whoever is replacing him though.

Really like this team, but imagine if they had kept Vazquez, sigh.

It basically came down to money, and they would have had to pay a lot to trade Lowe.

Hudson took a below market-value deal so they couldn't deny him.

They could either sell high on Vazquez coming off one of the best seasons of his career, or sell low on Lowe coming off a bad year.

Looking at their full careers, it wouldn't be crazy to assume Vazquez will regress next season and Lowe will improve.

Yeah, know it was about money, but the trade just wasn't good from a talent perspective and even when balancing short-term and long-term, I would have preferred they just kept him, and then taken the two picks when Vazquez signed with another team in the off-season.

No reason they couldn't have Vazquez and Lowe for this year, and just paid someone to take Kawakami off their hands. Then just plug in Medlen for Vazquez in 2011. Kawakami showed enough that someone would take him as a 3rd/4th starter and pay a good chunk of his salary. Even if it costs a few million more this way, I think it is definitely worth it, but I realize the Braves have been pinching pennies since they were sold to an owner who bought them for tax purposes.

Um you don't get to play against Zambrano every game. Eventually you will run into a major league-caliber pitcher.

QFT!

Heyward is such a lock for ROY, I wouldn't be surprised if Vegas has him listed against the field laying 8-1 odds.

If any of you live in Atlanta I'd suggest going to Peachtree Tavern Wednesday night post-game as a lot of Braves will be drinking and hanging out
