I hated that trade so much. Lofton never wanted to be here vs Grissom being a great teammate for that team, and his bug eyes were legendary. Grissom had just came off 23 HR, woba of .360, Justice 24 HR the 1995 year woba of .366 (I hated his flashy for no reason defense that cost multiple games in my memory though), and we replaced them with an outfielder who didn't want to be here, and who's #s dropped in every category here, it was all for **** anyways as the Marlins were unbeatable, and Lofton bolted the next year back to Cleveland. We essentially got not one damn thing out of this trade. Boooooo to that trade and Kenny Lofton in general. If not the worst, def top 2 worst moves from Schurholtz IMO

With the Giants and Cards continuing to collapse, it's looking a lot more and more like the NL postseason is going the be Braves, Phils, Reds, and Padres. All four of those teams are on really big heaters right now, with 4+ game win streaks.

It may sound like semantics, but the Cubs were giving up "less than nothing," just getting rid of half his salary would have been a plus for them and I don't know if they could have traded him to another team that he would agree to go to, so the fact that we gave up something even if not that significant is kind of weird to us but obv it is explainable, the Cubs maximized their leverage.
