Atlanta Braves: Win More Games Than The Hawks? Atlanta Braves: Win More Games Than The Hawks?

4.5 back in the WC now. Looks like the Braves probably need to go something like 23-12 over the last 35 to have a shot. That would get them to 90 wins and if the Rockies go 17-17 they would finish with 89.

The Rockies schedule is pretty favorable though which sucks.

Reid Gorecki and Greg Norton are absolutely worthless.

Also another wtf moment when Bobby chose to go with Soriano instead of Gonzo in the 8th...but i can't say i was surprised.

Bobby is in love with Soriano. Earlier in the season I felt like he used them basically correctly, mostly according to matchups and not worrying about 8th/9th. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Gorecki being worthless is understandable.

Norton having the year he is having and still being on the roster is craziness. Dude just can't hit. 9 hits in 65 AB's is unacceptable, even understand that pinch hitting is hard. I don't know exactly what I would do if I was Braves management, but it seems like Barbaro would be a good start. To be fair to Norton he has run pretty poorly, with a BABIP of like .188 this year, but his K rate is so high (25+%) that even though he walks quite a bit he still sucks.

Unfortunately it appears McLouth tweaked a hammy in a rehab game so he is not coming back like it looked like he would. Hudson's return pushed back a game as well.

Not bad from Hudson last night. Going to be interesting to see what they do with the rotation here on out.

Weird pulling for the Phillies and Mets but them winning the next couple against SF and COL respectively would be real nice.

September call ups were Brooks Conrad, Luis Valdez, and Clint Sammons. We can only hope that Conrad gets all the AB's Norton has been getting.

I really think Cox has lost it. Not that he was ever a great in-game manager, but this running Norton out there to repeatedly fail in crucial situations is getting ridiculous. Not to mention the overuse of certain guys in the bullpen. And dont forget the whole K.Johnson/Francouer crap.He really seems to not get it, and he's the biggest reason the Braves won't make the playoffs this year.

F-ing Braves. I was done with baseball for the year. Football had started, Braves had collapsed, no interesting races, just enough time to regroup to be ready to watch the playoffs.

And then this. They rip off 7 in a row just to give everyone that teeny tiny glimmer of hope that they might pull this off. Cool Standings has them up to a 7.4% chance of making the postseason, up from .8% just over a week ago.

And now the Phils come to town in what is almost nearly a must sweep situation. If the Rockies go 8-7 over their last 15 the Braves have to go 13-3 to finish with the same record. With 10 of the last 16 games coming against the Mets and Nationals its not completely out of the question.

We've leapfrogged two teams (for the moment) in the wild card race and are the first runner up at 3.5 games behind Colorado.

We finish @ Washington, vs. Florida, and vs. Washington.

Colorado has StL and LAD.

Being a fan of this team my whole life but for the first year outside Atlanta, and following on the internet, has been like facebook-stalking that girl that got away that you haven't seen in years.

You're rooting for her and she seems happy in all the pictures, but deep down it's so distant that it eats away at your will to go on because you know how it's always going to end.

But there's that faint glimmer of hope and light at the end of the tunnel...

Nice showing for Javier "Can I Get At Least A 4th Place Cy Vote?" Vazquez with the CG.

Atlanta gets a bad rep for sports fans, but can we please outshow the Rocktober white-towel crowd with our oldest and nappiest free foam tomahawks??!?!?

Still 3.5 back, still how we play against the nats and the fish will prove to be the final judgment on this season.

4 straight and 12 of 14, SP firing on all cylinders like old times.

But it's too late to tread water, we need to make some hay.

Man this is getting exciting and tense. Go Lowe and choke choke De Le Rosa. Only a sweep of the Natinals and the fish stand in our way. What an epic wild card come from behind win this would be in recent memory. Too bad Braves waited until 2nd half of the season to bring Hanson up, trade Francouer, and make Prado every day player or this would already be easily wrapped up. Lol at longing for wrapping up the wild card. Remember back when we had the division wrapped up in July almost every year?
