Would people agree that D Thomas>M Tolbert>Snelling>Lynch for waiver picks this week? (excluding teams with Turner/Matthews that need the handcuff)

I'm not sure where I'd put Keller or Walter in that group.

This is Rotoworld's waiver wire write up. I didn't realize Thomas was only on the field for 2 drives. Read into this whatever you want, but I'm glad I drafted him.

I like Snelling>Tolbert, but that's just me. Matthews should be back soon, and has another decent RB with Sproles there, but Snelling just has Turner with him really. But pretty close imo

What's people's thoughts on using my #4 waiver on D Thomas or Snelling? Got a solid 2 RB's, a decent 3rd (Jones), and 4th on my bench is an iffy Sproles. WR i have a solid 2, a decent 3rd (Collie), with Mason/Edwards on bench

I have a hard time believing 3 people are going to pass on Thomas. Who do you plan on dropping for Snelling or Tolbert. I might just sit tight if I don't get Thomas.

I doubt he'll be avilable since I'm down the line on waivers, but would dropping Mike Thomas for Demaryius Thomas be a good move?

Using waiver on him, if i don't get him i have a 2nd D i need to drop, so not a big deal to grab one id think, assuming they pass thru waivers, doubt im gonna bother a waiver grab for snelling/tolbert

most important Q-- is anyone worth a #1 waiver this week? seems like no to me.

Will Sproles likely have any value whatsoever in the coming weeks? Can I just drop him?

Read the rotoworld link I posted a few posts up. A lot of people are a little horny for D. Thomas if he's available in your league.

yea, i'm reading the same things as the post above and i might pull the trigger. he has huge upside and i'm in a league where there isn't much else on the waiver wires.

and as pathetic as this sounds, not having to deal with the #1 waiver and being able to go crazy each week rather than waiting for the perfect moment is appealing

Don't limit yourself to just one....pick them all up at some point in the season based on matchups. I wouldn't want to start Heap vs. NYJ if Gresham is playing CLE. Rotate em. I just hope transactions are free or you are a baller.

(Oh and hope Celek turns into Alge Crumpler in Vick's eyes)

Can someone explain DEF strategy to me? Every year I draft defenses that end up sucking and I don't know whether to stick with them or try a new DEF every week.

I have Philly and they've stunk so far (12pt total).

Worth dropping them for any of the following?:

TB
NE
Sea
Wash

NE is vs. Buffalo next week
Wash vs. St Louis
TB vs. Pitts

The DEF strategy I'm running with is just pick one up with a good match up each week, and just drop/add week to week. For example, I'd never hold on to KC D, but last week they had the match up against the Browns, and scored a solid 12 points. This week I'm dropping them for Cincinnati (assuming no one else grabs them)

Edit: Chargers D scored a ton of points againts JAC (Philly's opponent) but after watching Best annihilate Philly D, I can't imagine MJD won't have a great game against them. I'd probably drop them. I think the 3 you listed are close, but I'd lean towards Wash I guess.

I agree with this. Unless you get one of the top 3 defenses, they are a dime a dozen. My only additional strategy is later on in the season, if it looks like I am going to make the playoffs I usually pick up a defense with a couple good matchups in weeks 14-16, a few weeks early so someone with the same DEF strategy as me doesn't scoop them first.

i like to think i have had very good results at picking defenses. i always draft a d super late and base it mostly on week 1 matchups with an obv bump for weeks 2 3 etc.

obv you want a pick a decent team and not the lions browns stl oakland etc.

this yr i heavily targeted the chargers. they open @kc jax @sea ari @oak @stl

if they look like a sieve then i gotta switch. primarily i base it on matchups. its an offense friendly league. dont play anyone vs ne or gb or no.

do play teams vs the raiders stl etc. im heavily targetting teams against arizona this yr. da is an atrocity.

sometimes i carry 2 ds. someone cut sf and i stashed them this week bc they have a great track record and a great schedule. obv i cant play them vs no but i think its worth it to carry 2 for now.

so for you, philly is proly a decent matchup vs jax bc they suck. i would still say that ne is proly worth picking up and playing this week bc of how bad buff is.

this is a good point. also, even if a def is kinda crappy all yr, consider the late season weather.

years ago, late in the season, i stashed a crappy patriots def for a week 14 game in foxboro vs the bucs. the bucs traditionally suck in the cold. it happened to snow and the pats put up a monstrous game.

Thanks for the input guys. That's a very good strategy Victor. I never take it to that level. My thought process was "Philly always has a solid D" yet this year they're a sieve.

I'm also unhappy with Longwell my kicker. I love kickers on a good offense in a dome but Minny is atrocious right now and Chilly went for it on 4th down.

Jeff Reed is available (with Pitts so thin at QB right now they'll probably be kicking a lot of FGs until Rape gets back). Worth dropping Longwell for Reed?

Mike Nugent (CIN), Matt Bryant (ATL) Nick Folk (NYJ) are also available. Bryant is looking sexy (dome)

I like Clayton. Bradford loves him and STL will be playing catchup a lot this year so Clayton will get additional garbage time points as well.

I'd probably go w/ your first instinct and drop Naanee instead of Jones, but you're right, it might be close. But I do like Clayton and Thomas.
