Rolando Aarons is gonna have a big season with Newcastle then you will have money left over to replace wanyama for someone better

Cazorla and it's not close, imo. Ramsey is the same price and a decent pick too.

get rid of siggy, he was a great pick last year but there are better options this year at 7.5 or below imo

out of those ones you mentioned cazorla is the best pick initally (keep an eye on depay). he will be playing further back than he did last season though which will mean less points. he's still on corners/pens probably though
ozil and ramsey are also 8.5 and I would go with either of them over cazorla personally

Depay and it's not even close. Van gaal ball does reduce shot contribution numbers though so his numbers won't be as high as they were last yr but the dudes a stud and will play every game. Arsenal players not named ozil that are good for fantasy are all rotation risks so not great picks till we have a better idea of Arsene's fav Xi.

Also lol at wanyama get him the **** out. There's soooo many 5-6$ midfielders that are good.

good point. rather roll with özil/carzola/eriksen (mf looks like hazard, wanyama, sterling, carzola, eriksen so far) and berahino or henderson/lukaku?
also are shaw or darmian going to be any good this season? season is about to start and so many question marks

i'm aware that wanyama sucks and was just meant for the bench but he was recommended in one of the articles on fantasyfootballfirst lol. maybe go with ibe too for that price and hoping the gets minutes

I think HurricaneNick is asking about FPL, not daily fantasy?

Nothing wrong with Wanyama as a pick in FPL to sit on your bench and allow you to spend more money on the pitch. Would guess he's a terrible daily fantasy pick.

Yea its the season long official FPL game ...

In that case, Wanyama is definitely a fine pick, and there are so many good options in that 8.5 midfield bracket that I'm finding it difficult to choose myself. I'm on Ozil at present but I'm sure that'll change a few times before Saturday...

I think I read somewhere that Lukaku could be a doubt for this weekend, so look out for that. Berahino is an ok pick and could have a good season but difficult opening fixtures mean Sakho of West Ham seems better.

My Man United supporting friend expects big things from Shaw this season, to answer your other question.

Wanyamas **** for fantasy and will never contribute meaningfully(he's a great dm though). You couldn't pay me to include him on my team. You are better off picking the best players on the worst teams who are cheap and will likely contribute. I know this is for the season long league FYI.

A very popular strategy in FPL is to have the cheapest possible players you can have on the bench, to get as much money on the pitch as possible. So instead of having a 5.5 and a 5.0 and rotating them, you have a 6.0 and a 4.5 and just play the 6.0 every week. They're both valid strategies. Of the available 4.5s this year, Wanyama is one of the most popular because at least he'll play (most 4.5s won't get regular game time).

We agree that Wanyama is extremely unlikely to gain any meaningful fantasy points, and that this is true of defensive midfielders in general - it's just a question of preferred team structure.

Always prefer all my options to be viable Imo. Allows you to adapt better to injuries without taking -4s.

So who is this amazing 4.5m midfielder who is more "viable" than Wanyama? I'm on Anya myself but I can totally see the appeal of Wanyama and that strategy in general.

Also I'll take Cazorla over Depay if you fancy a friendly wager for who scores more points over the first gameweek (also first 3 or 5 weeks).

Does anyone have any good source for comprehensive lineup predictions that come out after press conferences?

Seems like getting 11 out this week will be key with all the question marks surrounding so many of the big names and new signings.

I generally follow this:

http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/team-news/

They're just guessing the same as the rest of us, but seemed to get it right the majority of the time last season.

having a 4.5 mid is decent but wanyama is a bad pick just because of his high ownership
also he blocks a Southampton slot which is risky given that you don't want to be in the situation where people like mane, pelle, tadic, defenders are in form and you can't get them in, especially when you will be benching wanyama every week

These are both very good points.

To elaborate on why high ownership is bad for those not aware - it makes him more liable to drop in price should his owners decide to offload. There is less risk of this happening with a low ownership pick.
