Man mls is just goal fests. So crazy for dfs. Would be pretty amazing if games were all at same time, however there's def some strategy and edges to be had with late swap. It's more stressful though waiting for Lus.

how often does DK modify player salaries?

And do they adjust them on days that there are only a few teams playing?

Dipped my toe in on DK this weekend for MLS. I'm finding it so fng time consuming running around between my spreadsheets and checking twitter to see who is starting. I think EPL will be better since it's on weekend mornings and I can hopefully put a few hours in during the week.

It's also fng annoying how every site (goldsheet, whoscored, espn, DK) will have a variety of ways of shorthanding a team name (ie. DAL vs FCD), all the weird player names that don't format properly, etc.

Plus I'm using googlesheets on my home computer and I'm an MS Excel lifer.

That is so true about different club abbreviations MP. And DK freaking out every time somebody has an accent in their name is just lol. there is no way to automatically sort that out in excel right? like if you vlookup something you can tell it to find a number closest to what you want, but it doesn't work for text.

not only does DK freak out, but for a bunch of weirdo names it leaves a blank space as the first character in the cell .... at least it did that for me using googsheets to run their .csv file. So yeah you have to modify after running vlookup for all of the #n/a cells

I agree the staggered start times basically trainwrecks your weekend, I'm probably not going to bother unless I feel confident getting significant action in.

did anybody scrape the final stats from goldsheet for last year's epl? I'd be willing to pay $20 for it if someone wants to hook a brotha up. Otherwise I'll just build a new one.

Yeah that's by far the worst part. I go through and edit every since player that gets exported in some funky way. Last year Bojan had a ? in his name the whole year.

boomswitch is standard right? depo'd this wknd on DK, played 4 MLS and cashed all 4 .... 2 MTT's, 2x and a 3x up. I started with the low stakes to get a feel for the software and how to time things with my spreadsheet/twitter but I see that the same handful of grinders are playing every stake imaginable anyway.

Would've shipped an MTT if that CHI/DAL match ended up 1-0 but whatever.

another question - It looks like the guaranteed prizepools dont get revised upwards if they exceed the min entrants - or does it get squared away later?

for example, $27 2k guar has 85 entries, but the total prizepool is still $2000, which makes the rake a ridiculous 14.75% .... i figured once they exceeded 80 entries they'd bump up the payout.

Renaming players makes me want to kill small animals. Literally 90% of my "research" involves renaming people so my spreadsheets work.

I got really efficient at epl. MLS is a nightmare since im combining stuff from like 4 diff sites.

I only play one lineup typically for MLS slates and plan way ahead for all the possible changes I may have to make so that makes lineup checking not as stressful.

all prize pools are fixed and there is only a max # of entries. this is for some legal reason that stipulates that the players have to know the payouts beforehand or some bs like that.

yes rake is high. and you will always see the good grinders playing even at low stakes cuz there just isnt any reason not to in dfs. it is one big disadvantage compared to poker.

Ya rake is high and it kinda sucks dealing with high stakes regs at low stakes. Definitely recommend limiting how many games 1 player can join of yours if you are posting H2H. If you have access to beginner games I recommend using those up till you can't anymore.

DFS sites cannot uncap entrants for the site because the legality is that the prizepool can not come from entries so they have to state the prize ahead of time and it cannot exceed it. Stupid but whatever, the game is easily beatable. EPL is slightly tougher as there are a few more good regs fighting for control of the lobby.

EPL should be up tomorrow i imagine fingers crossed for big prizepools.

Also, word of advice MP, don't stress over crosses. I'm not sure anyone still fully has a 100% grasp of what does and doesn't count as a cross. It's been a bit worse in MLS than it has in EPL though.

yep very true. It is also an opportunity though - if you play low stakes filled with grinders and you can beat it then you don't have scale up issues the way you do in poker.

I mean it prevents you from organically building up a bankroll but if you're well funded it's a great way to do a cheap experiment.

Yahoo just announced a partnership with Mondogoal. Hopefully means bigger prizepools.

Canadians are fine. It's a revenue share model, yahoo is basically an affiliate to drive traffic to their site. Likely will provide capital later. It's their play to get into soccer without developing infrastructure on their own. They don't have to deal with red tape now. Seems like a massive win win for both sides.

contests are going up. look smallish overall, but decent kickoff main 40k, 10k to first. i prefer flatter payouts but i'll take it, hopefully it fills

Pretty much in line with what I thought they'd do if that's the case. A little disappointing but still bigger than the majority of last year.

Fairly soft pricing due to only one top 4 side on the main slate. Almost wish they just did all the games for some variety. Lukaku and hazard ownership gonna be super high.

Salaries update every week based on past performance and opponents that week. Usually released Monday or Tuesday for the weekend games.

Yes salaries update for each game slate. Sometimes you'll have champ league and epl games posted at the same time so priCes won't update as they would already be posted.

that feel when you realize how many accents are going to be ****ing up the DK spreadsheet :S lol. Guess I need to dust off my programming skills

interested in if the big field double ups stick. they are great for other sports but if it is just a bunch of regs max entering and a few fish then it will suck.
