Roto, Weekly Lineup

Stats: G:A:PIM:+/-:SOG:SH%:PPP::::::W:GAA:SV%

I just dropped Ian White (CAR) for Justin Braun (SJS). Good idea?

I passed on dropping Joe Corvo (CAR) and Steve Montador (BUF)

To answer the earlier question, I would ride it out and stick with Zajac over the players you listed.

White for Braun is all right, I guess. In general I would prefer the player on the superior team (Braun in this case). I can't see this move having much of an impact on your end-of-season standings.

I also noticed he's been killing it this last week as well -- mainly because I'm against him in a matchup, fml. I didn't even know he was off Washington, guess it goes to show how I autopilot for parts of the NHL season. though my teams are doing quite well!

I don't think Fleischmann can keep this up with teams now paying attention to him. By attention I mean opposing teams sticking their shutdown defense pairing against them and possibly a checking line.

Chris Stewart, Hejduk, and Stastny returning might relieve some of that pressure, but it also means less opportunities for Fleischmann.

i have to keep 10 players for next season and the league drafts the remaining ~17 roster spots. i kno its early in the year but what does my top 10 keeper list look like now?
i'M thinking top 2 lines plus dubinsky, doughty, whitney and quick. 4 w, 3 c, 2 d, 1g.
thoughts?

For a 13-team league, this team doesn't look too strong at first glance.

I would keep your top six forwards (although I don't follow Dustin Brown at all, can't really comment on him) plus Doughty, Dubinsky and Quick for sure. It would be really nice to be able to keep a second goalie, if I were you I'd try to trade for one. Quick is really your only top-30 goalie, surely there are some teams who would part with one.

bonsaltron I like your picks. Should any of the players not on the current keeper list increase in value, I think Dubinsky should be the first to go. You still have Brad Richards listed as playing with Tampa Bay, so I can tell you've been in the league for at least 4 years. Given that, Gagner might be a great keeper depending on how Edmonton does in the second half of the season.

As far as keeping a second goalie, I disagree. In that list, Quick is the only one worth keeping. The other 3 goalies are not the clear cut #1s. In addition, Philadelphia is the only team of those three that will have winning records by the end of the season.

oops lol richards @ dallas obv

its the 1st year of a dynasty league, currently in 2nd place / 13

also leighton is fresh of ir so i'm looking to trade a goalie for a skater to even it out, i only plan on 3 goalies (not trading quick tho)

noteworthy graph to look at when evaluating a potential player's PP points, both career and seasonwise

orange line = cause
blue, red, purple lines = effect

So this is saying that because teams are taking less penalties, PPP's (and PIM too I guess) are harder to come by, thus a player who continues to produce them should be more valuable.

Also, need to ratchet down expectations from previous years. Someone who is still producing the same PPP totals he was 5 years ago has actually improved his production.

I am a little bit frustrated with Halak atm. He seems far away from his game at the beginning of the season. Do you think a change with Rask(currently FA) is reasonable? I also have Price and Rinne.

No. Tim Thomas has made Tuukaa Rask his bitch this year. If the season ended today, Thomas (18-4-6, 1.84, .944) would be a finalist for the Vezina, despite only playing in 29 games. Despite average numbers, Rask only has four wins to his name this year because he just isn't getting starts. He's a backup until Thomas goes ice cold or gets injured.

Halak is a legit starting goalie on an average NHL team, there's no way he should be dropped in any standard fantasy hockey league. He's not an elite goalie, and the Blues aren't an elite team, but he's quite serviceable as a #2. St. Louis has been a very hot/cold team this year. I would hang onto him and ride it out, or explore trade options if he's really bugging you.

Midseason team report, 4 teams:

1. 5th out of 12 in a points league. Not going to win this, my team is pretty run of the mill and none of my picks really exploded. Losing Roy hurt too.

2. 1st out of 12 in a H2H league. Classic example of my success in fantasy hockey H2H leagues where somehow the whole is greater than the sum of all the parts. Keeper league where really the only elite tools I was keeping were Ovechkin (who has been a disappointment so far) and Miller (who has been solid). My goalies (Rinne, Miller, Quick) have definitely been my co-MVPs thus far.

3. T-2nd out of 12 in a H2H league. Hanging on in this one despite having two (Parise, Getzlaf) of my four keepers (Cam Ward, Marleau) missing significant time. Without a doubt in my mind I'd be crushing this league if those two were healthy, but had my best draft in this league so it's helped me out -- Brad Richards and Patrick Sharp have been great. Struggling with Steve Mason and Dan Ellis as my other two goalies.

4. 3rd out of 8 in a H2H league. A kind of a joke for a league and somehow got roped into making it an expensive money league, but my team is okay. Happily took Crosby 2nd overall. Kovalchuk has been a huge dud and in a league this shallow, is nearly droppable at this point -- his +/- is a huge drain.

Alright results thus far... moreso a note for me to come back to see how I ended up doing.

I am pretty much spoilt for choice tonight. Every attacker of my team has a game.

So we have:
Skinner(C,RW) vs. TB
Plekanec(C) vs. NYR
Dubinsky(C) vs. MTL
Ladd(LW) vs. DAL
MacArthur(LW) vs. CGY
Backes(RW) vs. SJ
Williams(RW) vs. EDM

Heatley(LW), Perry(RW) and Staal(C) are already dressed.
I would tend to dress Skinner versus Tampa because NYR vs MTL could be easily a goaltenders game. But with the rest I am pretty unsure.

Sigh. Another Red Wing bites the dust. Holmstrom broke his hand in a fight on Friday, out about 4 weeks.

The walking wounded:
Pavel Datsyuk
Danny Cleary
Tomas Holmstrom
Brad Stuart
Jimmy Howard

I can start 2C 2LW 2RW so looking for one more on each position.

I could also drop one and add another defender, since none of my defenders is gonna play tonight.

None of those players are droppable.

LW: MacArthur vs. Ladd. I would go MacArthur as CGY = terribad, DAL = good.
C: I would go with Dubinsky
RW: Williams vs. Backes. I would go Williams, as home to EDM is a way easier matchup than @SJ.
