You know every owner in our league is likely to face a similar situation like toerazor and I are facing right now. When that time comes all of you will appreciate the option of putting your superstar who is struggling with addiction on IR. Think about it. It seems completely reasonable to me.

Hey winning and losing these things is generally by the slimmest of margins. Ask Kuta

Well, as you've pointed out, nobody it's stupid. So why would I tell you want I'm getting in a deal so you can offer somebody slightly better? If you want to deal, send an offer. I'm not going to tell you the bar to beat.

I mean that's kind of how it works in the real world. GM A tells GM B: "I'm getting a 1st rounder, a quality roster and a prospect right now. If you can beat that, he's yours".

Not sure why we'd do any different in here. Onus is on GM's to shop for the best offer, not the first offer. I hope anyone that has something on the table with me tells me "let me see how that measures up" and then gets back to me later. I wouldn't expect any less!

Agree with Rafiki, not really sure what your missing there rawrs? How does it hurt you to try and improve on a trade?

It doesn't necessarily hurt you but it benefits the other team. Takes the deal WW made for 1.05.

Rafiki claimed he would give up two 2nds + DeSean. Well if WW had told rafiki "Hey, I'm getting a 2nd and a good WR", there's no chance rafiki counters with the same deal. He probably reads that and goes "well I was gonna offer two 2nds but now I can just offer one".

If I'm in trade talks with multiple people, I see why you would tell one owner "hey, I've got this deal set blah blah blah", but every time a deal gets made rafiki and others have implied that if you make a trade, you should message the entire league. F that. If you want to deal for somebody, you send an offer.

Instead of sending offers, I am just going to invent deals I claim I'm taking and see if anyone beats them

Your first point makes no sense. If I want to win the bidding and I offer the same deal to WW, WW can simply tell me I have to do better. Since I already said I was perfectly comfortable capping out at two second rounders, that's precisely what he would have gotten had we negotiated. He also had all the leverage given his asset.

And with regards to your second point, again no. In all instances we're discussing it has gone: "hey this pick is in play". A bunch of offers get made, and then next thing you know a trade happens. Like a good GM, people will start a bit on the low side knowing their max. So when you make your initial offer and are never presented with much of an opportunity to up it according to the market price, what are you supposed to do? Do you really think in the NFL that when 4 GM's are interested, there isn't constant dialogue as the price evolves? Of course there is.

Now if I have nothing that interests the GM in question, I'm owed nothing in the way of a counter. And that's totally fine, I'm not arguing that point. But that's not what has happened in the cases we're discussing.

And again, this is 100% fine. You get what the market will pay. If you say the going price is X, then it's X. I decide if I want to beat it. Managers can also message each other with "hey did you hear he wants X? Would you pay that?". Because that's already happening, I get messages like that now.

The problem is most owners are here are going by the same rankings so nobody is going to take a lesser ranked player. I don't know how to fix that except to say make your own rankings up. If you look at some of these rankings in more detail you will see they are a bunch of different rankings put together to make a consensus ranking. I know you guys know that but if you look at the rankings as individual rankings you we see where two different players are ranked wildly different by two different people. If they want to make a trade for those guys they could because they value them differently. If everybody values every player the same then there are going to be no trades. Some leagues are like that so no biggie but you guys seem to want to trade but don't want to pull the trigger at the end so maybe this helps.
