On an unrelated note, I run a football pickem pool. Basically pick each game each week (vs the spread). Weekly winner gets $$, as well as running standings throughout the year that pays top 3. If any of you guys are interested, let me know. We had 17 guys last year, hoping for even more this year.

How long have you been playing that you're out of enthusiasm? I got started a bit late in life, but I've gotta be close to 12 years of it now. I like it because every year is a fresh sheet and you get to have fun all over again. I'm also a pretty cheerful guy, so maybe that helps. Which is weird, since I'm a Cowboys fan. You'd think I'd have a cloud over my head at all times.

I threw out August 15th or 16th as a possible start date for our rookie draft. That gives us a week or two to get it done and still have one WW process go through before the start of the year. If nobody objects it seems that would be a good time to start it.

Dropping kickers was not agreed upon. I think gs3737 had issues with it. I don't care either way so I will just not vote on that.

like a few posts above we just agreed that in the offseason, a majority of votes passes a change. We had like over 10 guys fine to sink the kickers, so imho kickers are gonzo.

We had this discussion earlier. It's one thing for an issue like waivers to be a simple majority. Removing a position from the lineup? That should be unanimous and at the very least, not apply for a year. It's not right for people for plan their rosters in one way and then have the roster makeup change effective immediately.

I vote to eliminate wide receivers.

I vote to abolish every position other than WR.

ok this strikes me as a bit arbitrary. Some votes need X and some don't? How do we decide which is which? I don't really care either way, but this is starting to become a little weird in picking what applies and what doesn't. Funnier still is the fuss is over lolkickers.

I think its unfair to eliminate kickers at this point, some managers possibly lost out on other players by holding onto kickers at the years end.

Absolutely. But I'm saying we need this defined a bit more in the charter is all. Maybe word it that we keep all roster positions and amounts for 3 years without possibility for a vote, and then a first vote in the offseason of year X. Then people know the change could come and plan for it. Makes sense?

my depleted RBs are all of a sudden looking like it'd be stream-worthy next season: Ball post-Moreno, Pierre Thomas without Sproles, Pierce without Rice, Stewart healthy, Joique timeshare with Bush.

WR is also looking on the up and up. AJ is AJ, and Cordarrelle is getting hyped up like no other, but I'm not as optimistic as most others about his upside. Think hes mid-wr2 next season at best. Quan will be Quan, as long as he stays healthy. He performed better after Crabtree came back. Hoping JHunter will have Alshon-esque 2nd year improvement (not counting on it though). Marlon and Kenbrello will have fringe holding value. Sucks about Goodwin; there are too many receiving options now on a run-first team.

Question:

My brother's keeper league has an opening and he's asked me if I want to join.

I've only played FF once and it was your run-of-the mill Yahoo league. (I ended up shipping but mostly by luck of the draw but drafting two RB's who killed it that year)

Anyway, am I at a disadvantage by joining a keeper league that has been running for several years? It seems like they'll have some of the better players already locked up, but perhaps that won't impact me?

I'm leaning towards saying no but figured I'd ask for some clarity before making my final decision. fwiw I'm leaning towards saying no mostly because of the time commitment, but if I'm also going to be at a disadvantage joining mid-stream then that makes my choice simple.

Dont think joining mid way is a bad thing. Just depends how strong the team you are taking over is. Though if you keep a lot of players and the previous owner wasnt great, you might have some depth issues. First thing I would do is get all the league rosters and rules
