ok i have a better idea for new players...

once we have final spots (either returning or new players) we will have draw for new players who can select what team they want...

so if there's three new players, i will do draw on random.com and then whoever gets 1 gets first choice of teams, etc...

for now i will just add you guys to the league so you can see teams, so kaka still send me your email

Depending on how many new guys join. Why not let them have a mini draft from the players on the teams their taking over?

Doubt it would take too long with only 3 keepers a team and 3-4 new teams (9-12 players picked). This would help balance those teams out avoiding the possibility of a new guy ending up with a **** team based on random.org.

Although I guess it could screw up our draft order since they aren't taking over a specific team.

This is a pretty good idea. For instance, I would be much less interested in taking over wesrwood's team.

IMO the draft order is much less important, or we can randomize that too among the new players.

im not doing this:

a. it is too much work (would have to be done in thread)

b. it screws up draft order

we can have team selections though through draw for new players,

there is only three keepers, the whole beauty of a keeper league is your team can't be that bad each year because you only have to keep 3 players...

honestly, how bad someones team was last year has almost no bearing on anything, especially if they have 3 good keepers, the redraft is still the most important thing imo.

also wesrwood's team won last year, so the fact gs doesn't want it kindof proves my point...

Wow, wesrwood won last year? Amazing. I didn't have his as a top 5. Jersey Leshoure must have won the reg. season no? Megatron/Peyton/Marshall/Demariyus/Dez is so sick.

btw, I wans't saying ajt entire team>> weswood's entire team, but with rice, charles and lynch, I think his keeper are obv better.

Keeping Foster, Morris, and Sproles I believe. Willing to move Sproles, or maybe Morris, for a stud WR. Sproles would be a 3rd rd pick. Morris might be too valuable because it is only going to cost me an 8th rd.

With Kaka and mapof, is the league full? Would like to assign teams and get started on potential trades.

This past year was my first time doing a keeper league. We did the draft on espn (where are league started and still is) which allows keeper leagues, but it doesn't allow you to keep players in the same round you drafted a player. From what i remember if you kept a player espn keeps him as your first pick, if you keep 2 players they are your first pick & 2nd pick, etc.

Since we wanted to keep players the rd before they were drafted what we did is had everyone right down everyone else's keepers and told people not to draft them. We also had everyone go into the list of available players that shows up in the draft and drop everyone's keepers to the bottom of that list. Somehow 2 of our league members managed to screw this up and draft someone else's keepers. Which we were able to fix but it made our draft go extremely slow.

Anyone have suggestions on how to avoid this dilemma?

Sounds like that's really the only way do it. Does say to much in espn keeper settings. Sucks but can fix afterwards if someone makes a mistake. Btw can anyone post the list of players from the teams not coming back this year.

will try to figure out who hasn't confirmed from last year yet, i'll give the person a couple days to respond before i give away his spot

in thread draft is what i was thinking... we can plan to be online at same time one night and get through most of it and then do last few rounds over a couple days if its taking too long...


i will check espn manager features though to see if i can set keepers for draft...

We may also want to see if there is a way to sign up at some other fantasy website that allows keepers in set rounds and draft through them and transfer it back to ESPN. Not sure how hard or likely this is.

BTW- we were able to fix it when people screwed up having the screw up tell everyone who he wants to draft (instead of the keeper he actually drafted), but then everyone would have to remember not to draft the screw-ups player.

Why can't we keep 6 players lol, I have too many WR's I want

This would still be more efficient than trying to do an in-thread draft, imo.

Beyond not drafting other people's keepers, what can we do about teams not having draft picks in different rounds?
