For 12 teams, I think at this point it makes sense to finalize who the 12 are. Inevitably one of those 12 will probably drop out (for whatever reason, stuff/life just happens), and then we can simply go to whoever is next in the queue. Also possible that one of the first 12 drops out if the rules don't suit them.

First-come-first-serve sounds reasonable. Also reasonable to consider participation thus far ITT as I think we want the league to have active folks (e.g. TBell posted early that he's in, but he only has 2 posts on his account - imo safe to say he's out).

I assume that waterwolves (OP) will commish, so I'd think he gets final say on who the 12 are.

We also have to figure out how the rookie draft will work i.e. how is draft order set? How do we avoid people punting to get 1st overall pick.

Will we have roster spots only for rookies?

NBA style lottery imo. Last place will have best chance of getting #1 pick, but it wont just be handed to him.

Yea I strongly agree with "not just handing it to him"...definitely need to discourage deliberate tanking (while of course at the same time allowing teams who get unlucky a reasonable shot at making up ground).

in another 2p2 dynasty league, we run the playoff bracket on ESPN and the winner of the bracket gets the #1 overall pick. so 1-4 play for money, 5-8 play for the #1 pick, and then 9-12 are just at the bottom.

provides some incentive to keep at least 8 teams motivated through the playoffs.

Did some google-ing around regarding this, and one suggestion I like is to set your draft order by total points using optimal lineups. Basically the tankers have no incentive to tank because the scoring is based on the best players they could have started. If they *really* want to tank, they'll have to drop their good players, and no one is doing that in a dynasty league.

A problem with this is it could give people less incentive to set their lineups. Since who they start has no effect on where they draft. This can cause wins or losses that affect the playoff seeding. So, to discourage that, during the few weeks preceding the playoffs, you subtract actual starter points from the optimal points.

So let's say the playoffs* are weeks 14-16. Then the formula to determine draft order would be something like:

"optimal points" for weeks 1-13
minus
"starter points" for weeks 10-13

(*Also I'm guessing we'd vote on how many teams should make playoffs - either 4 or 6 for a 12 team league)

Is there an official list of all the league members? And who is going to be in charge of collecting the money?

Yeah I think it would be good to get a move on this. The in thread draft is awesome, but it takes a LONG time.

I'm not sure we have enough people but I'll do some work Friday in here. See about leaguesafe, getting the draft order set up, and the site we're going to use. Super busy at work so haven't had time.
