If we are rostering a player that's clearly starting the season on the DL (Sean Manaea in my case) do we need to have that player off the DL as per league rules re: roster spots for the start of the season? I only ask bc ESPN currently calls him ineligible for the DL (listed as DTD) when he clearly will be.

If we have a AAA eligible player on our roster would it be possible to drop them and then add them back via the draft or waivers and have them eligible to go to AAA?

It is silly, but it is what we've had to do in the past. I know I've had to do it before, and it sucks.

I'd be fine just saying something like if someone is already declared out for the year, they're fine to not count as a team's 31 roster spots. It gets tricker when someone is possibly going to be out for a week/2 weeks and isn't on the DL yet, etc.

as in someone has to report x is out for at least x months? I feel like even for 1-2 month injuries it's a slam dunk DL stint so your 6/10 months suggestion may not serve that purpose well? but then again i dont know what would be a good threshold

Okay, I would propose the rule that says "if you can cite a beat writer or a major outlet that says player X will be out for more than 1 months, you can leave player X off of your roster during the final cut before the regular season for up to the start of week 2 of the regular season for the purposes of waiting for the DL designation"

?
