Tct, you're obviously tanking, I don't really see how you can try and defend it otherwise. This has come up (not just with you) a lot. We had done warnings before and then guys corrected their lineups.

Why didn't you mention it on the board? Whenever we had done it before when I was commishing, we did. It helps with league-wide accountability, I don't expect hurp and dan to watch every team's lineup for every sport every day.

There's nothing that says anyone has to call up anyone from AAA ever, there's a lot of strategy around keeping guys in AAA and managing your roster. And LK isn't tanking, he's putting his best players in his lineup, he's just making a choice not to trade for/pick up better players. And that's overall team strategy imo. We all know the overall points are the incentive not to do that, ignoring that is different if you're playing for other sports in your roster construction. Not playing guys you have is different and I'm not sure how you can argue that.

I'd be fine with anything dan and hurp came up with, but I do feel like we're beyond warnings. I'd also be fine with editing in Cooper in and West out of this week's lineup (vs. me), which I didn't even notice until right now either. I have no idea what would be fair though other than just saying "this is all up to the commish's discretion" which is awkward too

Let me bring some stuff up, real quick: I would prefer to PM the commish about tanking and that is just how I do it. I also brought the tanking up with SRM tons of time for it to get overlooked and it took forever for something to happen. Lots of owner opinions and back n forth goes on so I chose the PM route, nothing wrong with it. Dan and Hurp do a great job and they are not at fault when stuff drags out.

I will proudly let a commish take West out for Henry but it is not fair to put Cooper in my lineup when he has done so bad since week 1, you might as well set my lineup every week if I am not allowed to bench a struggling player.

Someone explain how starting a player who does not even play in a game is better than benching Cooper for a higher ranked WR at the time. I disagree that tanking is worse than not doing anything about your team. Why can I not be allowed to play for high draft picks in a DYNASTY league, especially when I am rebuilding my NFL team? Tanking or not there should be no penalty for trying to compete next year and not this year.

It sucks that I have to defend not starting a WR that even he would not start, the guy was the 79th ranked WR going into tonight...totally justifiable.

Punish away and let me be the example but in the end this better be the solution going forward cause I am tired of rules and definitions of what is or is not getting changed and a team that is active like mine getting screwed cause I was having fun with my lineups.

I'm just saying that it's hard to compare this to something that happened just over PMs, I had no idea Othello did something like that. And we warned SRM twice and then kicked him out of the league, and added this rule (-Penalty for tanking: Tanking to be determined as team not setting their lineup for 3+ weeks Penalty to be: once 3 weeks are reported and confirmed (by commish), (total, doesnt have to be consecutive) then you get a warning. then every subsequent reported week results in that sports draft pick dropping by 1 spot (1 spot per subsequent week reported)) I'm not sure what else we'd do.

And I genuinely agree with your last point. We just need something clear about what is and isn't ok and go forward.

I am more upset about the system than getting called a tanker. If that's what we need to call my approach then fine but I'm starting players that play and can't be subject to tanking penalties. There is a grey area which needs to be cleared up, is the team starting competitive lineups, is the team playing the most optimal lineup, or is the team not even starting a full lineup.

I'd say I started a competitive but not optimal lineup.

IMO I clearly think (as your admitting) that your tanking however I don’t think you should be penalised for that. Similarly to nba teams tank by resting their players, playing them in different spots etc. I think it’s definitely unethically and feel disappointed that it happened before as I’ve never used this approach.

I think we should look into have a lottery type system to work out draft picks. Might actually be fun and add to the league.

This is nicely put. IMO we have a rule in place for a team not starting a full lineup already (what we have posted before).

We should have something about competitive teams, I've been playing with the wording, but along the lines of like "every team has to dress a full lineup of active players." So at the bare minimum you need a team of guys who are at least actively playing in the NFL.

And then the really grey area is like "teams that actively bench their best players in order in a long term pattern to tank", which is much much harder to see and monitor. IMO it's more about benching guys that sets it apart from anything else, but that's harder to notice/really enforce. Cooper is a great example cause yeah, he probably should have been in there over jj nelson or whoever, but also like, probably 60%+ of his owners have been benching him the last few weeks. And it would have to be at the discretion of the commishs.

I also don't like the idea of changing the drafting order. It would be really fun, but the draft order still is the best way for bad teams to rebuild. I honestly don't know what else we can really do though.
