correct. the N/A spots are a way to roster guys who are currently not in the majors. it's a nice addition by yahoo so you dont have to waste an active roster spot on a minor leaguer in a keeper league

I went on last night and noticed everyone was a FA.
Was a bit surprised since I had assumed we were doing continuous waivers processing daily in conjunction with FAAB.
Regular free agency kinda defeats the purpose of FAAB imo, because its still just a mad dash to the wire whenever closer news breaks or theres and injury to a key player or whatever. Whoever happens to be online at the time still gets all the players, and the FAAB is almost never used (becasue really, how often does anyone dropa player thats going to spawn a ton of interest?)

My feeling is that FAAB is used to give everyone a fair shot at every player, and to introduce a bit more strategy, which only works along with continuous waivers.

im confused, the setting says 1 day waivers

are you saying that i need to change it so it's continuous and only certain days can be waiver days?

Yeah, I've been totally confused by the waivers because sometimes it has asked for a bid and other times it hasn't.

if there's a consensus to make waiver days like M/W/F or something im fine. i just assumed that since everyone was listed as a W after the draft that would be the case

Ya if you set it to continuous, then you can set the days to M/T/W/T/F/S/S if you want the bids to process every night, or to whatever days you want.
Took me a few tries to get it set up right in my other league that uses it.

I think initially the bids were required for the first 2 days or whatever because all players go on waivers following the draft for the normal waiver period. (then they reverted to FA once the waiver period ended)

When continuous waivers is set, then all players will be on waivers all the time.
And if we do it so waivers process every night, when a player is dropped or added to the system, they still require a 2 day period (or whatever the normal waiver period is set to) before a winning bid will process for that player.

Id be fine with either daily processing, or 3-4 times per week.
Processing waivers every day still gives a bit of an edge to owners who keep an active eye on position battles etc, but make it so that guys still have to place the bid and cant just immediately add the new shiny toy while half the league happens to be stuck at work.

Setting it to process a few times per week is cool bc it limits streaming (virtually eliminates it unless you plan several days in advance), but it can be painful if you lose a position player to injury then are stuck with a hole in your lineup because u cant add anyone to replace him for a couple days.

3-4 seems fine

My vote is for waivers to process everyday. Limiting the number of days per week you can make changes to your roster kinda defeats the purpose of allowing daily lineup changes imo.

I'd prefer to have only 3 times per week for waivers to clear. But the majority seems to be leaning towards every day, so I'm not going to fuss about it too much.

There is an opening in a 12 person 5x5 $30 redraft league. 2 waiver moves per week. 6 teams make the playoffs, Top 2 teams get a 1st round bye. Playoff matchups are 2 weeks long. The lower seed MUST beat the higher seed outright in the payoffs to win. Ties go to the higher seed. That's the benefit of having the better record.

Also in the playoffs, I can turn off ESPN's Undroppable Players List if you need to drop someone that could understandably be dropped. Any questions, just ask.

Something I didnt think about before regarding trading:

Yahoo does not allow you to trade players from another teams NA or DL slots directly into your teams teams DL or NA slot. Assuming you have a full roster, the software forces you to drop an active player, move the NA/DL player to be traded into the active slot, then manually move the new plaeyr onto the DL/NA.

IMO this is dumb. It is just a shortcoming in Yahoos software, rather than a fix for a strategic loophole or whatever. Especially in a keeper league I feel like prospects and injured players should be freely traded without worrying about dropping a player you would never otherwise want to get rid of.

How do people feel about allowing off-site trades of NA/DL players (either posted here in this thread, or on the league message board), and then the players can be add/dropped to the appropriate rosters using the commish tools?

One of my keeper leagues allows this, and so far it has worked out great.

Thoughts?

**Obviously if a player is no longer on the MLB DL or is no longer eligible for the NA slot, but is still on the fantasy team's NA/DL slot, those players should NOT qualify to be traded offline, and they would be required to be moved to an active slot first, to prevent exploiting the intent of this trade idea

I really like this idea. Like you said, the fact that you can't move NAs or DLs in the Yahoo software seems like an oversight.

In my four sport fantasy league, that's basically the only way to get a deal done. We use a Facebook chat as well as personal contact information, but I'm the commissioner and I'm constantly using Yahoos edit rosters thing to add and drop guys from rosters, since there are a number of moving pieces.

+1 for me on this idea

Are we in week 1 right now? Yahoo is saying yes but the regular season hasn't even started yet. Are they counting spring training games?

The spring training games? Opening Night is March 30th and Opening Day is March 31st. We really should not be including spring training games. I didn't even know that was a thing.
