If I were to make such a rule, it would be four. (Doesn't FD and DK have a four to a team rule?) (FD sure does for NFL and NBA.)

What I'm really interested this year is the secondary market products that I hear are launching. The competition is going to skyrocket.

Bigger, smaller or the same as NBA?
MLB has been slightly bigger than NBA in the past imo. We'll see if that continues. Obv both still can't hold a candle to NFL.

With FD and DK everywhere (MNF, NFL playoffs, your locak sports radio, etc) and the huge tournaments GPPd this year, there was an explosion of sites/tools/analytics for NFL and some great ones for daily NBA.

The same thing will happen for MLB.

I've heard rumors that ESPN might jump into daily fantasy leagues, which would likely produce an even sharper increase in participation and third-party tools.

In MLB there are 30 teams playing every single day except Mon/Thurs for 6 months.
How often do that many teams play in the NBA?

I think you missed my point.

That was just a long winded way of saying being different is important.

The coors field game is going to have everyone and their mother stacking both teams and mostly the favorite in the game (highest team total).

Say that stack has a ceiling of 80 fantasy points and is 30% owned.

Stack B say is just an average team total and has a ceiling of 72 but is only 4% owned.

Sure ceiling A is always going to be the highest but that doesn't mean it's more +EV than stack B.

So this is the first year I've played DFS. I got destroyed at football, have been doing reasonably well at hockey and I'm looking forward to baseball. I follow baseball very closely and have been participating in season long leagues for almost 20 years now. That said, I'm not sure what to expect with MLB DFS. Obviously, it won't have many parallels with football, but how closely is the structure and scoring to hockey? Are pitchers as important as goalies? Is there any one stat that can indicate overall production the way SOG and shooting % can be used to predict scoring?

Tl;dr I'm a noob and need an MLB 101 crash course

I think you are miscalculating how your EV will be affected.
Stack A will money much more consistently and will still be more likely to go top 5.
If you think going contrarian is the ticket, then imo it would make more sense to do that with your pitchers and the 2-3 hitters that arent part of the optimal stacks

Ive never played MLB DFS. Does Coors really have such an impact that it literally doesn't matter who plays there? It's still a professional baseball field.

just remember you have essentially half the year to play mlb, start slow.
last year i had a good nba year, and started mlb opening day with buyins higher than i should have. that was painful. you have a lot of time in mlb, start small/slow, once you have your feet under you, then up the buyins.

Take a look at charlie Blackmon and Josh rutledge's splits.

Or any player since Denver got a team. The outfield is huge so every catcher doesn't hit 40 homers in the thin air. That makes the gaps huge for lots of bonus doubles and triples, not to mention the distance between the OF and infield tacking on scores of free singles. It's the best singles park by far, best HR park, and if it's not the best for 2B's and 3B's it close. Also breaking balls don't break as much in the thin air, another advantage to the hitter. Col pitching is always overworked due to all the free hits and runs and extra pitches thrown. Road pitchers can fatigue due to the thin air, and having to throw a bunch more pitches in a 3 game series than usual. Plus, as generally sucky as the rocks are, they really know how to hit at Coors, and now they've got a stronger lineup than they have had in a while.

All that said I think people overdue it with the Coors plays a bit. DK got really proactive with Coors pricing in the second half, unlike FD who adjusts pricing to Coors for the last game of the series or just as the visiting team is leaving town. I found it impossible to pay 4800 for Blackmon or Dickerson while throwing 2 aces in cash games.

Subscribing.

Have had a really good season in DFS Golf this year, after a pretty mediocre Football season, so really looking forward to baseball this year. Can't wait!

Impossible to get them NFL size. Baseball is every day for 25 weeks.
NFL is basically once a week for 16 weeks. The NFL GPP fields are always going to dwarf even the biggest MLB contests.

People are always excited for opening day. People will have a month to register for these tournies. FD's opening day tournies are definitely too small.

Ya sure they could go bigger for opening day.
Im just talking about on average throughout the season.
And even opening day cant come close to comparing with the biggest NFL GPP's

Hard to be too upset if MLB GPPs>
NBA GPPs. Opening Day prize pools look slightly bigger than NBA. If we can expect these prize pool daily, I'll be happy.

Draftkings 500k probably won't be daily but I expect the FD 300k to at least hold constant.

this

i mean FD and DK certainly know more about their expected turnout than i ever will but it definitely seems like for something as big as opening day they're underestimating the size
