Curious when the daily grinders take a look at a short slate like tonight don't you worry that rosters will over lap so much your just paying juice to DK fanduel whatever most the time? I always thought that the larger the slate the higher the edge. Is this correct thinking or not? Baseball is really hard to understand cause on one hand i am constantly pumping out lineups getting into the 30's and cashing 50/50's but as far as GPP play i am toast and lucky to just min cash.

i personally dont play on the short slates for the reasons you mentioned. im curious if others here feel the same. also, if i were you id just keep doing this

and print money and stop worrying about the gpps. that strategy worked for me during football season.

It more has to do with the quality of the games than the quality. If there's one team that's just a massive favorite and a huge mismatch even on a 15 game slate they may be more owned than guys would be on a smaller one.

playing cash games on a 4 game slate is not a great idea, having zero chris archer on a 4 game slate is worse...

Tim beckham will be on the winning27$ dk Gpp roster. Tim beckham only had a ph appearance. Of course it was a 2 run hr.
Gpps are easy to win

I am new to advanced stats, do you guys like woba or MUwoba more as a stat to use?

woba chamberlain. both are good but if you're new you should probably teach yourself how to predict when a guy's woba will be projected to go up or down based on a certain matchup then look at MUwoba

I use wOBA and wRC+ but imo it doesn't really need to get any more advanced than good old fashioned OPS. I'm not even sure what MUwoba is but there's no magic bullet and anything fancier than the 3 I mentioned could be too fancy.

looking at some stuff on MUwoba it seems like unless you can find reliable long term data to fit the parameters it might encourage you to roster overvalued players but idk I don't exactly crush this

I've always found it bizarre that people use wOBA for DFS research. Linear weights are cool and all, and they're really useful for actual baseball...But it would be much more effective if the linear weights matched up to the scoring of a fantasy site.

Do you like looking at ISO to predict home run chances for a gpp

i love playing GPPs on 4-5 game slates. I'll put 20 lineups into the $3 and the $5 and you can stack a bunch of the possible permutations. I've yet to hit a top 3 doing this, but I've come really close (lineups in top 1%)

Nice feeling when things work out the way you expect/want them to. Wish it happened more often.

Ugh, there are quite a few cheap pitchers today that I like which means I'm gonna use them everywhere and their gonna get blown up and I'm not gonna win anything.

If you're strictly looking for HRs, you should probably just look at some kind of HR rate stat. That said, doubles and triples aren't exactly bad for fantasy scoring. But good old slugging percentage probably gives you a better idea of a player's usefulness. If you go 1 for 30 with a HR, you're going to have a massive ISO, but you won't really be very useful for fantasy.

I can't look away from Max tonight vs Philly. I haven't been able to find the right hitters to compliment it though.
