Re: MLB 2015 DFS Thread

Today is one of those days when you full stack a team for 6 and the 3 people you don't use are 5/9 with 2 HR, 2b, SB, 4r, and 7RBI. All you can say is oops.

Na, I had about 30% of lineups with him. Had potential with a Greene/Harvey/Tex stack but again, oops.

Re: MLB 2015 DFS Thread

I decided to punt the pitcher and stack all hitters in 50/50. set to cash.

When a pitcher is widely known to be highly owned what's the value in being the 77th man to own Harvey tonight in your 50/50's

I mean there was a reason he was around 80% owned in 50/50's today.

Re: MLB 2015 DFS Thread

that came out wrong, I just meant the whole world was going to start him. Can't you spend down in a one night game buy some bats? Or is pitching so important night in and night out that you really need to have a top SP to cash consistently?

Kris Bryant 4th highest priced 3rd baseman tomorrow on dk hahhahahhaha😂😂😂
And they say they don't touch pricing and let the algorithm do it.

I want to say he's got a +1.89 OPS and a .333 ISO last I looked. He's crushed every pitching level he's seen since high school. Granted he's still in AAA, but where would you price him coming into the league?

Re: MLB 2015 DFS Thread

I took Harvey of course, but thought I was being slick to spot good value in Quintana. Together they did well and I can't complain. But I still don't know how I failed in using savings to build some sound bats. Nothing works for me with hitters...

After cruising along at 50 fpts for my two pitchers on DK, you'd think I'd be ok. N.Walker, Pearce, Harrison, nada. Reyes, a meh at 7. I'll take Jones' 16 in there, but then my punts were all 5, 7, and goose edggs. So I hafta suck at battes, right? Or can this be the cruel variance that can be excpected?Unlucky or not good, I gotta go with the not good until I know what I'm doing more I guess.

Baseball is a game of failure from a hitting perspective. The variance is real.

Re: MLB 2015 DFS Thread

Based on player's score's distributions it has to be really bad going with the chalk in the GPP's for baseball.

Harvey 67% owned
CC 2% owned

What do we think their top 20% outcomes look like? 10%? etc. If you run good on Harvey you have to compete with 30x more players for 1st

Likewise a high owned hitter is pretty bad considering actually just how often he outperforms a lesser owned player with lower points expectation #TMI

Re: MLB 2015 DFS Thread

DFS newb here, how grindable is MLB from a cashgame perspective? can you get a similar ROI at the 50/50's and HU as NBA, or is it more about the GPP's because there's more(?) variance?

i had harvey in my 50/50s tonight. it was definitely awkward. its at the point where hes so owned that it doesnt even matter how well he does. i mean you want him to do well to at least screw the other ~15% obv. i dont think fading is necessarily correct like it would be in gpps. especially if you think his ev is that much higher than everybody else at P. it just makes it like nobody has a pitcher and it all comes down to just hitting.

It's definitely not incorrect to have Harvey in a GPP last night. You don't have to differentiate yourself everywhere.

Lots of very good information but also very bad information in this thread imo.

yeah that's a key concept a lot of people miss - thinking they have to differentiate at every single position.

bc so many people have him that it doesnt really matter how he does. so you just paid like 10k to make no difference in your lineup. but then again everybody else did too.

it seems like this discussion comes up at some point in like every thread for every sport on here. and it always seems to go the same way. somebody says that differentiation is good in gpps and that gets misinterpreted as if somebody had said to just fade every good value play that might be even slightly popular.

i think the posters itt are smart enough to know that its fine to have someone like harvey in a gpp last night. also i think its fine to say that having somebody whos 2% owned is an advantage in a gpp. both those statements can exist.
