for someone new to DFS, what is different between DK and FD and is there one or another that is particularly better? is one site better for some sports than others?

DK has late swap (swap players in and out up until their game starts). FD does not (all players are locked in once the first game starts).

There are plenty of smaller differences (player pricing, UI, scoring, DK has 2 pitchers to FD's 1 pitcher etc) but late swap is probably the biggest one.

For playing 50/50's, should I be joining the big field 50/50s, smaller sized 50/50's (like 20 people), or just any that aren't full near the end?

I don't know if it's what you SHOULD do, but I prefer the larger field 50/50s I think you have a better chance of there being dead money there, guys who aren't checking starting lineups, weather, rioting, etc.

But I could be completely wrong.

took my FD team (with $400 remaining) and tried to load it into DK

was negative money before even adding a 2nd pitcher
