Also, any incentives you guys can offer? I assume SRM's team finished last place?
SRMs team has the 1st pick in this years rookie draft. His picks would be: 1.1, 2.13, 3.1, 4.13, & 5.1 (99% sure).

All non rookie contracts increase 10% per year for 5 year max. Rookie contracts are a 6 year max with the first 3 years @ $4, yr-4 $10, yr-5 $30 and yr-6 $50.

So EE would be $213 this year. We work on a $1000 budget.

Rack, when SRM took Karaks team over a couple years ago, was his first year paid by previous owner?

If so, he should definitely pay for 2017.

Usually we're all paid up a year in advance so that's the incentive for a new owner coming in. But I thought I saw that SRM wasn't, and if indeed he's not, I very much doubt we're gonna squeeze that out of him.

Nor should we IMO. I was always under the impression if you wanted to quit you either just (1) play out your last season you paid for, maybe under some trading restrictions or (2) try to "sell" your team and recover some or all of the $100 you paid for the subsequent year.

Anyhow I still want to move Garrett Richards possibly for a draft pick! Make me an offer

SRM is not paid for next year, he did pay his last place tax. Remember the time he traded the store for Alex Guerrero? Good times.

Cost him Ozuna, though SRM also got a 4th that he turned into Christian Arroyo. Could have been worse!

Unfortunately I think I've done worse. Is Rusney Castillo still on my roster? Best 1.3 pick ever

So I have too many starting pitchers. I have Greinke, Teheran, Archer, Walker, Nola, Manaea, Roark, C-Mart and Urias.

I also have three SS. I have Bogaerts, Anderson and Crawford.

I have no 2B, no 3B and not enough OF. I could also possibly use another 1B, or maybe even a C.

Ideally, I'd like to trade big leaguers for big leaguers, because my farm is starting to thin out some, but I'd listen to big leaguers for prospect trades too.

Ok, I think we need to start things up.

in the past, for reference:

Rookie cuts were around 2/28
Rookie draft started 3/1
MLB cuts were due 3/9
MLB auction started 3/16

Obv, our #1 priority is finding a replacement for SRM.

Did DontDoIt show any further interest? We have a little bit of flexibility with those days so not quite panic time yet but it'd be nice to nail down a 13th within the next week or so

Rosters Tab (it's a new tab, update your bookmarks etc) is updated. Could have overlooked something, if you see something weird point it out and i'll look into it.

edit: Note I did not deal with minor league forced promotions yet. That will be tonight. Just did salaries, contract years, and free agents.

Below is the free agent class for 2017 (only showing players that were on a roster in '16).. again if you see someone that shouldn't be on here point it out.

Draft order should be good to go a bit later tonight.

Also we should handle rule changes asap.. things i saw mentioned:

- no minimum draft picks ( this seemed to have near universal support )
- some change w/ undrafted rookies? I kind of like status quo here, forget what the argument was
- contracts for mid-season signings.. think i saw mentioned that all would be 1 year contracts? like before i like status quo for that too, but maybe shortening mid year pick ups to 3 year contracts (i.e. starting as Year 3's) is something i could get behind.

I'm sure i botched the ideas that were floated, but we should organize them and get a poll going so we can implement them (can't change draft pick rule for this season imo, but can for '18, others could go in immediately)

i propose we raise the buyin, we're all older and hopefully better off than when we started the league and i think we could raise it if everyone is down with that.

nothing crazy, like maybe up to 150?

maybe everyone would give a bit more of a damn if the stakes were higher a little.

Exit that sounds about right. Just combining to have one list.

1) No lightning picks if you have under 10 minors after completion of the rookie draft. As you said I think we're good here but just for due process sake we can vote. Agree 2018 implementation.

2) We were bouncing around permitting rookie eligible players to be picked up in-season (something we've all been guilty of at some point on accident). But have them only be on your team for the rest of the season similar to free agents who were previously dropped, so they would be in the auction the following season.

3) That brought up how we handle other FA although I think the general consensus (and where I personally stand too) while not 100% was to leave as-is.

4) League buy in? I'd prefer keeping where it is but not gonna quit over an extra $50 or anything. Up to you guys

shrug on buyin. i enjoy the league as is, more money wouldn't make any better for me. also don't think it would increase participation - if anything would make harder to replace dead teams.

i could get behind a more top heavy payout - though that has downsides as well. I think we'd see more tanking if we only paid top 3. but again not really big deal to me either way.

I think we talked about removing the 5th place.

$1300 pool, plus $50 last place fee

New proposed payouts?

($1350)
1st $700
2nd $350
3rd $200
4th $100

I would add...

5) Changing trade counter window during auction.

Ok so updated list

1) Lightning round picks
2) Picking up rookies in-season
3) Handling FA pickups (change from 5-year contracts?)
4) Buy-in - increase to $150?
5) Payout structure - eliminate 5th and/or other changes
6) Trade counter window during rookie draft and auction

refresh my memory on how position eligibility works

examples:

Machado played 45 games at SS last year. Espn rules say 20 games last year gives them eligibility. So will he start with both 3B and SS?

Brewers announced Villar will play 2B this year. Played only 11 games there last year. Will he retain 3B and get 2B as well, or only be a 2B?

The way I interpret it, Machado yes (over 20), Villar no, but will get it after 10 games?
