Hey Winners,

Please PM me if you want your payout in full or if you want me to hold back 2018 entrance fee. I just did a transfer so payouts will be next week.

Hey guys apologies in advance but I was a little off my game with escrow this year so there are a few loose ends.

- SRM never paid for 2017 and owes last place tax as well so he is $150 short. I never really pestered people this year like in years past so it was probably just an oversight.
I have sent a PM but he hasn't had time to reply. If he wants out next year he just owes $50

Payouts

1st NDFan - $600 for first (still owed $35 from SRM last place tax)
2nd Pecota - $250 for second (still owed $15 from SRM for last place tax, also held back $100 for 2018)
3rd Levarkin - $75 for Second (He held back $100 for 2018 and Kris Bryant)
4th - I was fourth so I am covered
5th Banhammer - Didn't ship $50 and will put it towards 2018, unless he tells me otherwise,

Didn't we abolish 5th place payout?

We talked about it, but since it was never put to an official vote, I think it waits until next year.

We can vote on that and other outstanding issues before next season IMO.

So in the meantime, I know Pecota mentioned he has a list of things to address, we can list issues now. Then maybe vote in like February?

yeah if you look on page 72 and 73, there was def some support for it.

I thought I had some grand document with a bunch of stuff in it, but just a couple of items on a sticky note

1) Designate a formal window for making counters on trades that occur beyond the usual times, like mid-auction, etc.

2) Abolish the farm team floor and the lightning round picks in the draft.

3) Reformat the payout distribution (I think this was just getting rid of 5th place)

Can we start a section in the google doc to track proposals until the February voting period? They tend to get lost in the thread after a while.

Another one. Might have come up before.

Rookie eligible players can be picked up in season but not kept. There were like 3-4 closers on waivers that were unusable

Agreed, something like 12 hours.

Also agreed, don't think there's a good reason for doing this.

Yeah, the heavily-graded payout structure was meant to be temporary. Agree that it could be a bit more top-heavy.

Totally. There are three categories of players on the waiver wire:

1) Non-rookies who started on a TCOF roster (currently addable on a 1-year deal)
2) Non-rookies who didn't start on a TCOF roster (currently addable on a standard contract)
3) Rookies who aren't on a TCOF minor-league roster (not currently addable)

I wouldn't mind harmonizing these rules entirely - everyone on a 1-year deal, as I've noted before - but if that's still unpopular than I think making rookies eligible for a 1-year pickup makes a lot of sense.

Great idea.

Levarkin - my only opposition to all pickups being one-year deals is if you're out of it there is very little motivation (besides avoiding last place) to staying active.

I get the consistency angle though

what about 1,2,3,4 pay out and 5th place gets first pick, 6th gets 2nd pick, 7th gets third pick, etc....

then theres motivation to move up in the standings all year long for all teams.

I'm strongly against making non-rookies who didn't start on a TCOF roster 1-year deals via the waiver wire, but am open to smaller adjustments.

I feel like that way is more geared for H2H, but not really needed in ROTO.

It also hurts the teams that are rebuilding. The worst teams are prob incapable of placing 5th, so they would then be further limited on improving their team.

Yeah that's cool. I do think we should change the rookie non-eligibility thing though.

Yeah it also prevents people that didn't check their team once (SRM) from getting first pick, a reward I feel isn't deserved for never putting a second of effort in.

To come 5th, you'd have to earn it.

Agree with ND - there has to be some avenue to get better when you're rebuilding. Getting a top pick in the rookie draft CAN be a big part of that.

Assuming we are cutting the 5th place cash payout .. if you wanna throw some extra auction dollars to 5th-7th or something, eh maybe. But I think we should leave the draft order alone.

I was looking over some things and curious what the group thinks on "abolishing the farm team floor and lightning round".

Once we do this, all draft picks boost value IMO. I think thats a good thing, but the trouble with doing that this year is that many people already traded away 2017 picks before this new rule was mentioned.

I do feel awkward in bringing this up though, as I may be the one most affected. But I would vote to see this rule take effect next year. Thoughts?

I agree with those changes. I thought that whole construct was a bit odd and basically an angle shoot where you could trade all your picks away and still get players via the lightning round. How much of a value difference is there really between a 4th rounder and just taking guys after the draft.

So basically everyone gets 5 picks, subject to the 20 max roster limit, and that's that (hypothetically)?

Yes that would be the new rule, correct.

But like I said, I would vote for that to take effect for 2018.

For example, my team, I have 3 players being auto called up, and I traded away (4) picks. After the draft/cuts I will most likely have 5 minor league players entering the season. My point is, the picks I traded away were before this new rule was mentioned.
