MLB: 2+2 (small stakes) Dynasty Fantasy Baseball League Interest/Discussion thread

This is branching out of the 2+2 Yahoo Midseason Fantasy League, but ANYONE is welcome to join. There was a significant amount of interest in a dynasty league that would start drafting in December/January on a thread here, so I'm posting this up now to discuss structure, rules, buy-in, etc.
I know NOTHING about dynasty leagues, so we are going to have to do some research.
Components I would like included:
-A minor league system
-Trading draft picks
-Roto scoring to reduce variance
-Penalties for not setting strong lineups throughout the season
-Fair and established "public market" trade rules
Buy-in:
I could see doing anywhere from 25 all the way up to 100 dollars per year. I would want everyone to be paid up TWO years in advance before every season. You are welcome to sell your team, pending approval of the new owner by the league, but if you are going to drop out of the league without selling or transferring your team then you will be penalized a year of a buy-in. The league can then sell your team at a discount to get a new owner in the league without losing $$ out of the prize pool. Thoughts on this?
Post here to state interest. Let's discuss buy-in, rules, structure, etc.
I'd like to run the league, but due to the time constraints of law school I can't run the day-to-day functions. Pecota, who is an RL friend of mine, volunteered to administer the league and is very good with details, structure and organization.
I also think we should think a 3rd party escrow in the form of a reputable poster here to avoid any issues.
Let's go!

I am absolutely in for this. I was in the midseason league and didnt do too well, but Im looking to build on that.
Just got in a dynasty football league and would love to do one for baseball.
In.
$100 buy in is good with me and if its 25$ thats good to, everything Karak said sounds good actually.
The Minor league system sounds like a nice wrinkle.

Very much in, partnering with BJLTNYK because I suck at paying attention sometimes and he doesn't.
We'd prefer $100+ if possible, but are cool with $25 if necessary

was looking for a second money league, probably in depending on clarification of some rules (strong lineups?)
would prefer $100 as well but $50 would be ok, would prefer not anything lower than that.

I'm interested. I'd prefer the buy-in not go higher than $50 (ideally, I'd like it closer to $25, but I can live with it being higher if that's what's voted upon).
I'm strongly in favor of some sort of farm system equivalent, although I don't have any experience with dynasty leagues so I'm not sure how that's usually set up. My initial thought on that was to have a certain number of minor league roster spots (or just work off a main, 40-man style roster) and base eligibility on actual MLB service time. I'm sure there's a better/simpler way though.
I'm sort of waiting to see what ideas other people post.

Definitely in (thanks for the heads up Karak). I also know nothing of dynasty leagues. Will do some research, I suppose, but right now I'm pretty much cool with whatever will get proposed.

I should add though, that of what you've proposed, I support pretty much everything. The minor league system, trading draft picks, roto, "maintaining interest" penalties. Not sure where to do research on basic structure though . . . I guess I'll start with wikipedia?

Yeah fair enough. But man, I tried googling this stuff to get an outline of standard rules and all that, and there's really not much out there. Nothing in a manner of "Here's how to set up your dynasty league 101", which is what we need. Maybe I suck at googling, but we'd likely be better off if there's anyone in a dynasty league on this board (and there must be many) who could share their setups with us.

I might be in depending on final settings. I much prefer keeper leagues to dynasty, but will reserve judgement till the rules are in place.

Ok, time to get this started. I think 50-100 dollars is the best amount to do, especially for a league like this that will require a decent amount of time.
We're still open to more interest pending how many teams everyone wants to do, so if you are seeing this for the first time please let me know if you have interest. People may back out too. The draft will be done on a thread here over the next 3 months.
Here's my basic proposal of rules without getting detailed:
-Some sort of structured payout rewarding things other than just winning the postseason (assuming we do h2h instead of roto)/year. Maybe highest point totals each month? Stuff like that to keep interest even if you can't win.
-Minor league system. 25 man active roster and 40 man total roster It would work just like IRL. If the player is in the majors with no options left, they have to be on the 25 man roster. If they have options left and/or are a minor league player, they can be reserved on your 40 man roster either active or inactive. Basically each team will have 40 people on it. This isn't set in stone, and we can expand/contract it as we think it is needed.
-H2H or roto? Thoughts?
-Everyone pays TWO years in advance. This means you'll have to pony up 100-200 dollars right now. You can sell your team for whatever you want (assuming a majority of the current league ownership approves the new owner).
-This needs to be escrowed, and it needs to be escrowed by someone not in the league. Feel free to make suggestions of people here. Hopefully it's someone who can take payment in a few forms, and we'll of course compensate that person for their time, even if it's in a small way.
-I'd like to run the league with Pecota helping me out. Anyone have problems with this? All major decisions/vetoes/etc. will be voted on by the league as a whole. We also have non-league 2+2 people available here to arbitrate any league issues if we have to.
-10 teams or 12 teams or more? I think 12 is a good round number.
-Established league rules for not setting your best competitive lineup week in and week out. We could have fines/penalties for finishing in the bottom 2 spots of the league every year, for example.
-Auction draft? Salary cap?
-Charges for transactions? Or just a transaction cap?
-All trades must be publicly posted for 48 hours and open to counter-offers before they can go through.
-This league is going to be competitive, but I want it to be friendly too. Good-natured trash talking and all that is encouraged, but if you are going to be a douche this isn't the league for you.

The buy in amount sounds good to me, I think $50 sounds best but if the consensus is 100 I can work with ti.
I agree 12 teams seems like the best number.
I'd prefer H2H.
Salary cap sounds like fun.
Charges per transaction could be good.
Im excited for this.
