Joining a fantasy hockey league with some friends and I know nothing about hockey. Looking for some tips on how to draft well or ideally a default draft list if there's one available anywhere

Doing a hockey auction draft tonight. Anyone have any tips on this? Never done an auction for puck before.

I wish I did. Just did one myself and think I have a good team aside from goalies but I don't know how points work or anything so my team could be terrible. Definitely up for talking about it throughout the season if we can get a thread going.

Fantasy hockey auction is weird. Much deeper talent pool than football. Don't overspend early.

I took over a team in a dynasty league. Seems like my best bet this season is to stockpile future talent and draft picks while I learn. If I get off to a crappy start gonna go fire sale early while people are willing to pay a lot for some of my better players (Kane, Voracek, Shattenkirk, etc.)

piece of advice: don't sell super high end guys like kane, get rid of the rest. You can't really restock on them, since even first and second overall picks are not sooo likely to be that good.

Good point. Overall though is my line of thinking reasonable?

Only to a certain extent imho. Next year will be a great year to draft 1-2 fantasy wise. Like if you would have gotten this years rookies it wouldn't really help you that much probably.

Just don't do a total sellout, it's usually hard to recover and if you have elite talent, hang on to it. Usually you won't get elite talent back without giving up a ton.
