This policy is disgusting to say the least. Where is the FSTA in all of this?

I hope DFS survives this and some new competitors enter the market. FD got to go.

FD was always run by morons. Keep in mind DK caught them after FD had a 3 year head start. DK wasn't even really a thing until 2013.

From the NYAG Complaint seeking an injunction re FD:

"With poker and DFS, professional players, also known as “sharks,” profit at the
expense of casual players, also known as “minnows.”"

"Minnows" ?

Hearing will be on Nov 25.

I'm sure that came from this article: For daily fantasy sports operators, the curse of too much skill

That internal FD policy is so LOL and mindblowing. I guess I mostly assumed the whole insider stuff was ignorance or an unspoken rule, but to actually put that stuff into words for every employee to sign.. Jesus Christ. I'm amazed they were able to grow the company as much as they did with such inept minds behind the wheel.

It's quite amazing how different the DFS landscape and future could look right now if these companies were run by reasonable people who grew the companies with caution.

Yeah. Its incredible. Couple that with the ads. I'm thinking in particular of the one guy's testimonial that essentially said "I'm no different from anybody else. The only difference is I played and they didn't." Not once did any of those ads mention the word "skill". And they knew all along that "skill" would have to be the crux of their argument if DFS was challenged as gambling.

The ads should have emphasized skill at every juncture, not to mention being a lot less repetitive.

And its just laughable that the policy essentially implies that anything goes, but please don't become one of the top ten sharks/whales in the country.

Those ads have really stirred up a strong anti-DFS sentiment. Combined with the general public's negative opinion of gambling, and DFS will never benefit from public support.

Reading the fantasy football subreddit, those people froth at the mouth at negative DFS news. Bad news about DFS skyrockets to #1, and the top comments are always ripping DFS to shreds. They don't dislike it, they HATE it. And these are the types of people you'd be hoping would side with your cause.

I don't really get why people think the FD policy stuff is that bad

just looks like some people who don't know how to run a company made a policy they thought sounded good

Personally now I would like a list of DK employees screen names who played on FD and vice versa. I have a DB of all my results and would like to see if they are anomalies compared to others.

The real irony is that the NYAG has seized upon naming the one group of DFS players who actually fit the FD/DK portrait of their customers, the fan who invests relatively little and watch for the "action".

With the lineup info not being valuable because of different pricing structures on each site argument -

Employee A works at FD his friend B works on DK

A gives lineup info to B and vice versa

and now it is valuable

And more ironical is the use of disparity between winning/losing players is the skill-game argument.

Not to mention the fact that just because you couldn't copy/paste an entire lineup doesn't make it not valuable.

A huge part of DFS is finding injury replacements or guys with growing roles in an offense. Those guys will be cheap on every site, you just need to know who they are.

plus that one guy has a logarithm to predict weather patterns in mlb so knowing his lineup saves you the time of writing that program

The ad strategy was a disaster, talk about tapping the glass.Actually, the general public gamble their asses off, they buy every ''it's rigged'' conspiracy theory but keep on gambling anyway. The general public made no outcry to shut down DFS,the ''it's rigged'' segment of the DFS community made the Ethan story go viral and kicked off the dick measuring contest between Preet and the NYAG.Schneiderman struck first to grab the headlines. As for Reddit, aren't the haters mostly guys who run season long leagues and DFS sore losers who are pissed they couldn't deposit $35 and knock down the MM?

If you can't do this on your own you probably won't even be smart enough to use the information in a way that helps you win.
